Hi
I am a Massage Therapist in Seattle, and my husbands job might
transfer us to San Antonio within the year. I'm not sure where exactly
near San Antonio we'd end up, or when exactly we'd be down there.
Right now I have my own practice that I've built over the past 3
years, and I was wondering how business is in your area. I do a lot of
insurance work, some Lomi-Lomi, Hot/Cold Stone, Fijian and Ashiatsu
Oriental Bar Therapy - what are the popular modalities for you guys?
Are there many options in San Antonio to work for someone as their
employee with the option to eventually buy the client list to start
your own practice? How are the spa's in the area? And what is the
average pay for a regular 'ol Swedish massage? Whats the regular pay
for employees? What is the average tip down there, if it's common at
all.
I'll look into the state laws once I get a chance, but what are the
general rules about massaging out of your home or running your own
business? How separate has the state made Massage Therapy from
prostitution? (Hopefully they are completely separate and massage has
a good healthy image!!) I want to make sure that it's even considered
safe to work out of my home, if I choose to.
Oh, and one other thing, I read somewhere that in order to get a
Massage License in the state I'd need to be sponsored by another
Massage Therapist? I may have misunderstood that, but what does it
mean?
Lotsa questions, sorry, but thanks for any help you can dish out!
