Based on the Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous, this is a program designed to help people with suicidal preoccupation and behavior. This is done by providing a safe environment where members can freely share their suicidal thoughts and/or tendencies, help prevent suicides and provide each other with ways of support and healing from these destructive patterns. Because of the anonymity and non-professional status of twelve step programs, members can share their stories without fear of being judged or committed to psychiatric hospitals.
