Dear Sherry -
I am Jane from Illinois, a gramma whose son and daughter-in-law lost a
baby. If you would like a few shoulders to lean on, a few good
listeners to share you concerns with - this is a comfortable place to
be. Please know we will be here for you.
Hugs,
Jane

Hi, just wanted you to know I am a new member via Marcia's
invitation. Please let me know if you want to chat. If I am not on
line, let me know you are looking for me and I will get in touch.
Dear Sherry,
I am Marcia - the president of SA and I wish to welcome you to our newest
forum. You are actually our first grandparent new member on the forum, but
not in the group. We have several grandparents who have expressed interest
in supporting this forum. We are just beginning though. We have had many
grandparents join us through out our 20 plus year history. Several read at
our memorial service and join us for our candlelighting and many are active
in our Outreach for Healing programs.
We have more information on our website to support grandparents
under: http://www.shareatlanta.org/grandparents.htm Grandparent Grief.
Are you from around Atlanta, that is where our "local" group meets. But,
we have members from all around the country.
I have just emailed some of the grandparents who have expressed interest in
being part of this forum. Hopefully, they will join us. Each has walked a
path of healing after the loss of their grandchild. Each has suffered
watching their own child suffer the pain of loss. They have joined their
family in the journey of healing. Now, they wish to support others who are
walking that walk. I am not a grandmother, but because I have facilitated
- at different times - our groups and worked with our outreach programs, I
feel very close to these wonderful women...and those grandpas that have
also joined our group. They have offered words of comfort and sought words
of comfort in our Mutual - support group. That is what we wish to happen
here on this forum. That is what our other forum for grieving parents
does. We want to open the door, online, for grieving grandparents.
Ours is a group that no one wishes to be a part of, but we are glad that we
are here to offer support to bereaved family members. It can feel like the
loneliest time ever. That is why sharing and caring, together, is so very
helpful. Grieving is a process that takes time to move through. We help
each other through the process by sharing - ideas for coping and caring -
by listening.
Our door is open and we offer you a hug of support and understanding...
I am about to head to bed. It has been a long day. But, I look to hear
from you tomorrow. 'Cause we do wanna talk...
Take care,
Marcia
The love stays...forever in our hearts.

Marcia -
My Yahoo account had lapsed because I hadn't accessed it in four months.
Well you know what I have been doing recently! Anyway, I just updated
my account and say your message. So I hope you get this.

I got your e-mail through the basic yahoo e-mail inbox and replied to it there. I am sending this e-mail through Messages/Post on the sagrandparents group site. We will see what happens.
OK - I got this one. Maybe I went about sending my e-mail inappropriately. I was concerned that sending it through messages would post it on the message board. So I went to members and sent it that way.

Okay...so we will see! My presentation is almost finished. Now, I will have to work on the booklet to hand out.
Take care, Marcia
