Here's the story from Champaign, IL today:
http://www.news-gazette.com/story.cfm?Number=16130 It was pushed back for a
few weeks, but viola -- it finally did run today. Thanks on behalf of so
many for sharing publicly sharing your stories Linda and Donna -- it will
help so many. Great story! I hope you are happy with it.
By the way, if anyone knows any rsd folks from elsewhere in the state of IL
(ie: Springfield, Rockford, etc), who would be comfortable sharing their
story publicly in the media, please forward my contact information on to
them. I'd be more than happy to work on their local paper in getting a
story off the ground. This will also keep the IL rsd legislation in the
news; it will also suffice as a very loud and effective lobbying voice for
the bill.
PS: With a bit of trepidation I bring up national politics, but would like
to share some food for thought on the Nov election which will affect us, and
rsd and disability, in various ways. While I dislike Bush and his
neoconversvative administration, and believe them to be imbecilic,
imperialistic, gun-slingers who have destroyed foreign relations with their
repeated unilateral approach/decisions on this "war on terror", are turning
our democracy into an Orwellian totalistic society starting with the
"Patriot Act", are setting the climate for us to fall faster and harder than
the Romans, and that we must vote out this regime's puppet and take back our
nation before the Fourth Reich rises, I do respectively acknowledge that not
all would agree on this assessment of such a hot-topic matter. (Needless to
say, I will be voting Kerry this year) But specific to our cause ....
when you place your vote in Nov. please remember and consider -- The Bushies
criminal approach to this "war on drugs" via the DEA and pain medication,
their horrendous medical coverage/rx plan for the disabled, and their
unwavering lack of support for medical stem cell research -- which with
necessary support might eventually reveal a solution for rsd, as well as a
variety of other maladies. On the other hand, Teresa Heinz (aka: wife of
Sen. John Kerry) for many years has undertaken many health (including
medicare rx and women's health) and social issues with her philanthropic
work that could be very supportive and helpful to us. For more information
and specific please see: http://www.hfp.heinz.org/
