Hi all, As many of you may, or may not, know some very exciting things are
happning in the state of IL re: RSD awarenes.
The state of IL has become the 4 state to introduce the RSD
education/awareness/research bill onto their senate floor. It passed
unamiously before the commitee, House -- and now it is on the way before
full senate. Additionaly there is a large fundraising benefit in the
Chicago area on 4/24 - all funds raised from which will funneled into a RSD
research fund, meaning the proceeds are not to be used toward any
organization's administration costs, etc -- all toward RSD medical research
only.
Both events (the legislation and the benefit) are a great plug for IL media,
and they have been extremely receptive. The rsd patient/advocate behind
both events lives in the Chicago suburbs, and 3 of her papers have committed
to running a broad RSD feature story on it. I have also gotten commitment
from a Champaign, IL paper to cover it (and will be interviewing another rsd
patient who lives in that readership). These papers have already begun the
interview process and I will forward on when they run.
In the meantime, this provides for a great opportunity and time to further
leverage this with more IL media buy-in. IL is a farily large state, and
lots of media awareness opportunities are available. If you live anywhere in
the state of IL and are willing to share your RSD story with the press
please contact me at: Deana_Kiser@... and let me know. In the
meantime I am attaching the press release on the benefit on 4/24.
Look forward to hearing from you. Warm Regards, Deana (rsd
patient/advocate, New Jersey)
