Hello:

New to group. I have been using the z cream for 3 nights-light
application-woke up this morning with flaming red face. Has anyone
else had this reaction? Is this part of the process? Would
appreciate any help.

Thanks,
Julie

Hi Julie,
I have been using the z cream since the end of December and I have found that it
has caused some irritation at different times during the treatment process.
Stupid me once put some Ponds Cold cream on as a moisturizer forgetting that I
was wearing the z cream and I had the biggest flareup of my life which made me
burst into tears! It hurt so bad!
But I didn't let it discourage me although I was really tempted to stop using
the stuff. I think now though that it was just a reaction to it. It took a while
for my face to heal and it is now only just really looking a lot better. I am
almost finished using the z cream but I think I'll keep using it for a while
longer just to make sure all the mites are dead! (EW!)
Anyway, I do find that sometimes when I wake up my face is pretty pink but I'm
not sure if it's from the cream. Maybe you're putting too much on, I don't know.
I haven't woken up with a pink face in a while though.
Hope this helps you a bit!
Good luck,
Marie
P.S. Maybe you could email the administrator at www.thejamushop.com and ask him.
He is really helpful!

Julie,
I did not have this reaction with the Z cream but when
I applied the X cream my face did exactly what you
described. I stopped using the X cream and used the
Z cream twice a day.
You could be having an allergic reaction to the Z cream
and should stop using it.
However, one of the FAQs on the demodexsolutions.com
website asks:

"Can there be setbacks?"

Answer:

"Yes, it is possible to have setbacks even after several days of treatment. When
the mites
die, they decompose inside the skin and cause infection there. Different people
have
different levels of reaction to the infection. This is the most difficult period
for acne and
rosacea suffers, because they sometimes think that the treatment is not working,
but on
the contrary, it means that the cream is working well and the mites are being
killed. It is
very important in this stage not to become discouraged and to continue the
treatment
without interruption. This period will last not long. Know that you skin will
clear up and
get better soon."

You will have to decide what reactions you are having to determine what to do.
Maybe
others in the group who are using the Z cream may have some comments about this
as
well.

Hi Marie:

After reading your response I realized that I did put a small amout of
moisturizer on after the cream dried. I also use the soap. I am going to let my
face calm down for a few days and then just use one product at a time for a week
to see what I am reacting to. I have reactions to a lot of soaps. Thanks for
your response.

Julie-

Did you continue with the Z cream? I've been using it for about 4
days, with the X cream in the morning. My skin burns when I apply
the Z cream because of the mint in it (for some reason my skin is
really sensitive to anything with mint). I broke out in red bumps
after using it for one day. I'm not sure if I should keep on using
it and I was wondering if you were able to tolerate it after a week
or so.

I've also tried applying some Emu oil to my face in the morning with
the X cream since my whole face is cracked and peeling.

Thanks-
Ellen

Ellen

I am into my 3rd week of the z cream, I only use the z cream and the soap.
Allergic to metro lotion so didn't even order the x cream. I am having a problem
with my chin this week, itchy bumps-not rosacea- dab on z cream and they go away
in a few hours. I wash my face with the soap and air dry-don't tolerate towels
and washcloths too well-wait until skin is completely dry and apply very
lightly. In the morning rinse with water. The flaking has stopped but dry. My
red has faded to a pale pink and skin is very clear and healthy looking, hope
this lasts. I am able to tolerate it more, this weekend I used it during the day
since I was home and everything seems fine. It does seem to have a menthol
action but is also soothing. Have you read the posts at demodex? I found useful
info there. With our sensitive skin maybe it is better to use just one product
at time and see how it goes.

Hope this helps.
Julie

Ellen,
i have not used anything with mint in it for a few years....i read that it
can aggravate perioral dermatitis....which is also what i had around my chin and
mouth. It is a cousin to rosacea.

Just wanted to report that i have been using the Z cream for my
rhinopyma for one month now (due to take a picture) I have seen really
slow progress. But i no longer use Metrogel, which i now figure wasn't
doing anything for me. I'm just using it on my nose at night and love
the cooling sensation i get when i first put it on. It has NOT dried
out my skin like others complain about, it anything it has had a
moisturizing effect.
No bumps on my nose anymore and the redness has diminished. I am hoping
i continue to see progress cause it is a real drag to have a big red
nose, especially when your profession is dealing with the public all
day long.
I want to thank Brady Barrows and Walter at Demodex Solutions for
encouraging me to give it a try. Even though i was scared to death it
would worsen my condition, it has not and i am so glad i gave it a try.
I try not to miss a night but when i do the redness increases.

Hi Noreen and Everyone,

Noreen I am so happy it's working for you too.

I started using the Z cream a bit over 2 weeks ago and I have been
really happy with the results. I followed the regiment that Brady has
posted on his site.

My history - diagnosed with perioral dermitis 15 years ago, used
cortisone and antibiotics to try and reduce it, the derm blamed it on
the stress of school (which had just finished). (I had moved in with
my parents after college to a house of 5 dogs and 3 cats, moved out 2
months later but I think this is where I picked up the mites.)
Went to new derm a few years later who diagnosed rosacea and put me on
antibiotics - emycin low dose (eventually I had to take a higher dose
because they stopped making the lower dose) daily, he eventually added
metrolotion to my regiment.
Slowly I watched my face become worse and worse, postules and cysts
all around and on my nose and chin.
About a year ago I read about Photo Facials and went through a series
of treatments and got off the antibiotics and the Metrolotion. The
nurse put me on a regiment of skin care lotions which did wonderful
things for my skin tone but not much for the cysts, which kept coming
back.
So my cysts came back and I went in for another IPL treatment (she
switched to the Starlux machine about midway through the first set of
txs), hurt unbelievably as she zapped the areas around my cysts.
My face didn't clear up as well as the first set of treatments so I
decided to take the plunge and try the Demodex products.
First week I was very flakey and the cysts went away!!!
During the second week the flakiness dissappeared and now all I have
is some redness where they once were. I've had only one minor area
around the base of my nose that still feels like a cyst might be
lurking but the rest of my face feels normal.
I haven't had to use much of the product on my skin to get these
results, I have been very surprised how well they work. My nose was
also pink and I had a pink area between my brows that even the IPL txs
didn't reduce and my nose is now a normal skin color and the area
between my brows has gotten much lighter.
My husband said the Z cream smells kind of like a tobacco plant.

I was wondering what results people have had using IPL with the Z
cream.

Thanks to all of you who kept posting about the Z cream. If you
hadn't I never would have tried it.

Susan,
I am happy for your quick results. No doubt if
you continue for a month, or as the suggested
amount, four months, you will notice significant
control of your rosacea. Thanks for the report.
I haven't heard of anyone other than you who
has said they have had IPL and then the Z cream.
Maybe your post will elicit some others to post.
Brady

Hi Everyone,
I've been using the Z cream and following Brady's suggested regiment
for over a month now and my skin has never looked better, not a papule
or pustule in site. I use the z cream very lightly in the evening and
even lighter for the morning.
Love this stuff.
Thank you to all who have posted on these products and how they have
worked for them.

Susan,
It is so cool you came back to post your results.
As I said before, the tendency of rosaceans is to
read the posts, try the recommendations and then
never come back. Question:
When you say my regimen, I hope you are
referring to this page, correct? >

http://www.rosaceans.com/html/z6.html

Did you use all four steps or did you skip some
steps? Feedback is really helpful. Thanks.

Brady

Hi Brady,
I follow the first three steps, diet doesn't seem to be much of a
factor to me unless I eat alot of sugar (candy) at one time or drink
more than two glasses of wine or beer. The rest of it I followed
including using the x cream when my skin gets a little flakey.
I can still feel my nose flush occasionally but so far no break outs
afterwards, previously the flush was a precurser to a break out.
I am hoping to have an IPL treatment next month to see if that helps
with the flushing and the little bit of pink left on my nose and
between my eyes.
My life has really changed since I began treatment, I actually look in
the mirror less. I don't have constant pain on my face due to
postules and I feel like I can touch my face and not cause it to break
out.
I do wish more people would post their results, I had found the
Demodex site before I found the Yahoo rosaceans group but was very
wary of ordering from them. At that time they had just changed their
packaging and people were worried about it. Not too long after that I
began to read about your results and then the results of others and
finally took the plunge.
So again, thank you to all who come back and post to let others know,
it really does make a difference.
Susan

Susan,
Thanks answering my question. I recommend that

http://www.rosaceans.com/html/ipl.html

While many have reported success with IPL and rave
about it, there are some disgruntled rosaceans. This
happens with EVERY treatment for rosacea, including
the Z cream. The X-Factor. But the old saying,
'buyer beware' not only applies to the Z cream but also
IPL and laser. Not understanding the risks involved
and the side effects can be a rude awakening later
and saying, 'Why didn't you tell me about this before?'
to your doctor who made you sign all sorts of legal
papers before giving you any treatment tells you
something about this treatment. The side effects
and risks associated with the Z cream are indeed
quite minimal compared to IPL. I have not heard one
rosacean ever say that IPL reduces flushing but I sure
haven't heard it all. Maybe someone knows in this
group?

Hello.... I"m surprised to read that you haven't heard of anyone having reduced
flushing after IPL. I certainly have. I had 5 IPLs and it helped a great deal
to reduce redness and flushing. Never cured it of course and I am due for a
maintenance ( my derm stopped at 5 but I needed more then 5 ). I notice that I
am starting to feel the tingling and the hot face in the mornings again.
Anyway, just my experience.

I'm not sure if you were directing your question to me or not, but if you were,
it's only been 3 months. I knew that 5 were not enough but my derm said any
more at that time would be a wasteand would not do any more improvement. Duh!
He talked about maintenance but never in dicated when that might be and there
has been no follow up from him. I really felt like he was saying he held up his
part of the "bargain" so to speak, not be on your way. Bargain= 5 treatments
for $2500. Of course, I will be going to another doc this time lol.
take care

Marcella,
That's cool that your flushing was reduced after IPL.
I have heard that after some time period that IPL is also
needed again. Do you think you will be needing to go back
for more IPL?

yes I"m sure that I will need more. Now that I know there CAN be a life again
without a red burning face, I want more of it! lol.
Yes it does hurt to get the treatments but its well worth it. I will be getting
IPL with a machine that I am not familiar with at all and that concerns me.
It's the Starlux by Polamer. Seems to be fairly new as I don't see it being
talked about in forums. The odd person has been treated and have had success.
If anyone can share infor on this machine, I would sure appreciate it.

Have you had IPL yourself?
best wishes

Hi Marcella and all,
I originally had a total of 3 treatments with the FotoFacial machine
and then have had 3 more with the Starlux machine you mentioned. The
results from the FotoFacial were great but my derm switched to the
Starlux. My last treatment with the Starlux was really painful, I
don't know if that is because postules and pustules were brewing just
below the surface. That's what drove me to try the Z cream, which has
worked wonderfully. I also experienced decreased flushing and it did
a great job on the redness on my nose area and chin. It did keep my
face from breaking out for more than a bit over a month but the
treatments are very costly. I'm hoping with the z cream I can go only
once or twice a year to help decrease the flushing and keep the
redness at bay.
I am hoping to try a Foto Facial machine again to see if it is as
painful as the Starlux.
I'll let you know.

HI Susan
My 5 IPLs were with the Vasculight machine and they were painful. From
everything that I have been able to read on the Polamer web page, is that it
shouldn't be as painful. I can't seem to connect with someone who has had both
..... for comparison purposes . Anyway thanks for the reply. I dont have any
p & p however I have alot of redness, burning and flushing. It's almost back to
full blown again today. I had a perm and that could have contributed as well.
As far as results, would you say the Starlux is good for reducing redness and
burning?? Better then the other?
thanks
Marcella

Hi Marcella,
It's so hard to compare, for me the experience was like someone
snapping a rubberband hard against my face with each zap. I wasn't
bad across my forehead and most of my face but around and on the nose
were pretty uncomfortable. Also, any areas that were tender prior to
the treatment were very sensitive during the treatment. It seemed to
me that the FotoFacial machine was more comfortable, I don't know if
it was the settings, the amount of time she left the numbing lotion on
my face or the machine itself. Now that I've had a treatment that was
so uncomfortable I am looking to find another machine that might not
be so uncomfortable. (Other things I've thought about, did the person
who was treating me make an error and set the machine too high?, if
she did she didn't tell me.) Up until the last treatment I found that
though the treatments were uncomfortable they were bearable and the
results were worth the pain of the zaps.

One other thing I haven't seen mentioned, a few years ago I was taking
a vitamin B complex and had alot of redness and flushing with it, I
actually had a flushing occurrence in my derms office, he was really
shocked by it. He didn't figure it out but my regular doctor did, so
I cut out vitamin B and that level of flushing went away.

From everything that I have been able to read on the Polamer web page,
is that it shouldn't be as painful. I can't seem to connect with
someone who has had both ..... for comparison purposes . Anyway
thanks for the reply. I dont have any p & p however I have alot of
redness, burning and flushing. It's almost back to full blown again
today. I had a perm and that could have contributed as well.

Yes, I always look for the non-flushing type now. I was surprised how
much Vitamin B is added to food products also.
Interesting how sensitive our bodies are.

I used the z cream for the first time last night and woke up with my eyes all
puffy, mostly under but also the lids. Anyone else have this experience? While
I didn't put any cream around the eye area, I do sleep with an eye mask on so
maybe this had an effect of spreading it farther. The bags under the eyes are
sticking around too. I still have them hours after getting up, washing my face,
etc. Don't know how to get rid of them.

One of the side effects of the Z cream is tearing.
It may be possible that the mint is the culprit for this.
Mint may be part of the reason why the Z cream works?
Anyway, I suggest you try putting on the Z cream again
tonight, close you eyes and not wear the eye mask if
you are able. With your eyes closed, allow the Z cream
to dry. Once it dries you can put the eye mask on and
go to sleep. I think once the mint effect has dried up
that should do the trick. Keeping the eye mask on
doesn't allow air to dry the Z cream possibly?

I started using Z cream a year ago and have had absolutely no breakouts since.
The redness is much lighter. Nothing else I tried before worked for this long.
