Hi there,
I'm posting for the first time. I had a terrible time with Flushing for about
three years. It progressed and got much worse and more frequent over time.
Since both my parents have rosacea and flushing is an early symptom (I was in my
early 30's when it started), I assumed I had rosacea. My skin dr. didn't seem
to think so but another doctor, years later, stated that I definitely do have
it. Anyways, I wanted to write b/c I was able to get the flushing to stop.
Here's how:
I read "Skin Deep" by Ted Grossbart. He practices in Boston and I was actually
able to meet with him several times. It was a huge part of my recovery. I also
saw another person who does Hypnosis. While they did not help the symptoms
100%, it had a significant effect on reducing them and I highly recommend
hypnosis for people who suffer from flushing. I also quit a job that I was at
for over 5 years. I was in denial about how badly I felt about myself due to my
employer. I will never make that mistake again. (Love the new job & flushing
went away after a few months at the new job). I also started meditating a year
prior and learned how to get introspective about what my symptoms and triggers
were about on an emotional level.
BUT I also take the following every day: a baby asprin, 150mg of zantac (75mg
in the morn & 75 at night-this is over the counter cvs medicine) & probiotics
once a day. It wasn't until I did this that the symptoms disappeared. They
were gone after a few months.
I also cut out sugar and alcohol but have added them back w/ no problem. I was
also using finacea gel daily. Once I started doing all of the above, I began to
notice that the gel was irritating my skin. Irritating it!! I couldn't believe
it. That was my first sign that things were going well. I no longer needed the
gel.
I had a SEVERE case of flushing that often lead to facial burning. I isolated
myself socially as a result and starting the new job was incredible challenging
b/c the flushing increased with the stress. But it has all worked out.
I hope that this post may help someone else in this situation. It's hard to
do,but worth all the effort.
