I have never taken antibotics, but topical ones do that to me.
ANY topicals cause me allergic reactions, the reactions being far worse than the
slight rosacea I get along my cheekbones and right side of my forehead.
I have seasonal allergies too.
I have been tempted to treat my mild rosacea with oral antibiotics, but fear
them.
my skin is very oily and super sensitive and prone to pinkness/redness along the
cheekbone area and a now and then blemish from oiliness.
But I give up on topical meds.
sorry I can't be of more help
I think the cyclines do cause that on alot of people.
I read it can cause rashes, which is why I have avoided them. when I read
possible side effeects, I ran for cover.
im prone to excema on my fingers in the summer due to allergies and have to use
a steroid cream on my finger tips as a last resort, I cover my hands with gloves
to avoid touching my face. and only do it as short a time as possible.
im sure its the Doxycycline, sorry.

Subject: [rosaceans] Doxycycline help.
I have a question and I am hoping that perhaps someone here could
help me.
I was treating my rosacea last year with Doxycycline. I used this
medication for about two months and then stopped when I had a visible
allergic reaction to it. I had a spotty rash under both of my knees,
and I also had red patchy blotches on my face and back, which
appeared similar to hives and would itch on and off. I also had the
strong sensation of being sun burned on my arms and back, but I was
not sun burned. I had not been in the sun, at all, since this was not
recommended while taking this medication.
After stopping my allergic symptoms began to clear, but every now and
then I would still get a stray red patch on my arms or back, but it
would fade quickly enough.
However, I have now noticed that when I attempt to treat my acne
rosacea, be it with a doctor prescribed treatment, or be it with a
natural remedy, if my condition begins to improve at all these
allergic symptoms return. I don't get the rash under my knees, but
the hives, itching, and burning all return. Which I cannot
understand, as I have not used doxycycline for a year now, and the
other treatments I am pursuing are different than doxycycline, and
certainly I cannot be allergic in exactly the same manner to every
different form of treatment I try.
Could this still somehow be related to the doxycycline? That seems
like a stretch, but I'm grasping for an answer. I don't think that
this is due to any normal allergy, as it only occurs when my acne
rosacea begins to improve from a treatment I am trying. I know that I
am still experiencing stomach upset from this medicine, a year on- so
could it be possible that I am still experiencing other reactions as
well? Any help at all would be appreciated. Thanks.
