Bacteria not involved with rosacea?   Message List

A new study published in Comprehensive Therapy 2007 Jun;33(2):78-81.
says,

"Rosacea is a disease of inflammation with no pathogenic bacteria involved.
Successful treatment of rosacea is possible without using antimicrobial
preparations. Oraceatrade mark capsules provide the antiinflammatory benefits
of doxycycline without contributing to the development of resistance to
doxycycline."

source of report: http://tinyurl.com/3684fl

Oracea capsules are a tetracycline antibiotic used to treat rosacea and has
been around for some time now. Many rosaceans report using Oracea for
rosacea. However, there are several reports showing that at least four
bacteria are involved in rosacea which include:

Helicobacter Pylori
Chlamydophila pneumoniae
Propionibacterium
Bacillus oleronius

for more info on bacteria involved in rosacea see this url:

In my new book, I point out what Dr. Powel says about this subject
on page 14 of my book, "A bacterial origin for the disorder would account for
the effectiveness of antibiotic therapy in the management of the inflammatory
component of the disease."

The medical community continues to baffle rosaceans with reports that
contradict each other. The June report by RD Wise in Comprehensive Therapy
says 'rosacea is a disease of inflammation with no pathogenic bacteria involved'
and certainly isn't the only report that has said this. But I have accumulated
several other pubMed article abstracts that show otherwise and have listed
some of these in my chapter, What Causes Rosacea, Theory 2 -Rosacea as an
Inflammatory Condition and in Appendix D - Other Theories on the Cause of
Rosacea on page 169, under Theory 6 - Rosacea is Caused by Bacteria.

The cause of rosacea continues to be debated amongst the medical community
and among rosaceans themselves. There continues to be a need for more
research that will settle this once and for all. For more info on my book,
