Wegener's granulomatosis is another rosacea mimic which was just announced
at pubMed. There are a number of rosacea mimics and I have a chapter in my
new book, ROSACEA MIMICS, that discusses this subject. Appendix B Rosacea
Mimics List includes a comprehensive list on skin conditions and diseases that
mimic rosacea. Wegener's granulomatosis will be added to this list in a future
edition. There is also a list of Rosacea Variants in Appendix A. The NRS only
recognizes one rosacea variant, granulomatous rosacea. Medical literature shows
that there is no universal agreement among medical professionals what actually
constitutes a rosacea variant. This new report says Wegener's granulomatosisis
is "mimicking facial granulomatous rosacea" and asks the question whether
it should be "a separate subset?" This further indicates how confusing rosacea
is and how frustrating it is to know that these questions are propounded by the
medical community. My new book tries to help rosacea newbies sort through
this mysterious and confusing disease which one medical doctor says is
"probably a collection of many different diseases that are lumped together
inappropriately."
