Jerry,
The Z cream (real name is Zhongzhou) is available from
www.demodexsolutions.com. (I won't be taking part in the study
because I no longer have any symptoms to get rid of, but if you
have an enlarged, red nose, notice the email about it.) The Z
cream works well, but only if you give it at least a couple months of
nightly applications.
As for diet, that is rather individual with many opinions. A healthy
diet for starters with lots of fruit and vegetables. Avoid processed
food and cut back on sugar. Some of us react strongly to different
things: coffee (not caffeine, but coffee decaffeinated or not) is my
nemesis, although I give in to a Starbucks frapuccino once in
awhile, alcohol for many of us, wheat, spicy food for some (not
me). I have also lowered my carb intake for other health reasons,
and maybe that is also helping my skin.
Take vitamins and supplements. Read Dr. Nase's book for
suggestions, and also Dr. Pericome's (sp?) book for diet and
supplement ideas. Also, I have tried to rid my house of fumes that
cause skin reactions. We took all the wall-to-wall carpet out of the
house, for example, and laid down laminate flooring instead. I
don't wear nail polish, use fragrance -free laundry soap, etc,
sensitive skin facial products. This may sound like a lot, but most of
it is just hard at the time of change and then you have a fresh
house and new habits and eventually it is nothing. Also, remember
that when you are in the throes of the bad symptoms, any little
thing bothers you, like someone's perfume, etc, but once you have
it under control your tolerance rises and little things don't light your
face on fire anymore. (Also, I used to suffer from migraines, and
now that I've cleaned up my indoor air pollution problem I rarely
get migraines.)
For me, having the Z cream at home allows me to be "bad"
ocassionally (like a frapuccino) and then I look for signs of my skin
reacting. If I start to see a reaction, I put Z cream on for one night
and I am back to normal.
Also, some people are upset about thoughts of mites and are
concerned about animals in the house. We have 2 dogs, 2 cats, 2
rabbits and we love animals. The dogs even sleep at the foot of
our bed. I'm not convinced that mites are jumping off of our animals
and infesting me, i.e. I feel no sensation of my contact with animals
hurting me. I'm a mediocre housecleaner, anyway.
Read Dr. Nase's book to start.
Good luck,
Anne
