Hi Brady & Others:
If you will recall, I have had Ivermctin in the past. Last July,
after reading the briefs from mostly international doctors who posted
success using Ivermectin on Demodex infestations, I got my Derm to
prescribe Stromectol (Ivermectin) along with permethrin and Rosula.
I took the Ivermectin and experienced a surreal feeling in which
there was an erie calm to my face and in general it felt like I was
on some sort of mild recreational type drug. Maybe also some slight
dizzyness. The next day, I started to flare badly, but it was
obvious that some major element was different. I took a good long
Sauna bath and used a mud mask to clean my skin and then I looked
fantastic. My Derm had allowed me only one dose, so I followed up
with two weekly applications of permethrin creme. I was perfect
during the first week. I could eat anything without ANY negative
reaction. My pores were normal and I had no breakouts. After one
week I began to notice that once again my pores began to enlarge,
collect sebum and tiny spots of reddish color were beginning to re-
emerge. I used the permethrin and it seemed to halt this process but
eventually after two applications, I became worried that permethrin
was causing too much dryness and that my skin might be getting
damaged and did not continue it at that time. I resumed my usage of
the Z ointment and felt that I had gotten a good start and that the Z
ointment could do the job from there. Later I began to have all of
my symptoms back again and although the Z ointment seem to be helping
in general, I found myself once again losing the battle. I now feel
that the hatching demodex eggs had simply allowed the re-infestation
to occur and that all the other meds were not able to stop their
inevitable return to business as usual.
My original plan was to have several doses of Ivermectin, but when I
got my original prescription, the Derm only included one dose. At
the time I accepted it as I concluded that he must have a reason and
since I didnt even know if it would work, I just used it and hoped
for the best. You may want to read my post from (July?).
Well, after reading Dr. Nase's post, I decided that since I had
experienced such an incredible transformation from my one dose of
Ivermectin and since researchers were obviously making progress using
it for Demodocsis, that I contacted my Derm two days ago and talked
him into perscribing multiple doses of Stromectrol once again. I
explained that I wanted at least four doses with a six month follow
up.
He agreed but only allowed me three doses stating that there was an
important side effect that I was not aware of..... He said the side
effect was Sudden Death. He advised me that this was an issue and
cautioned me to take only the specific dose he was prescribing whcih
was four 3 mg pills with water 12mg ..My weight is 220 lbs. Further
I was to take two more doses at one week intervals. Again, I was not
in a position to argue so I accepted it and began to figure out how
to get my needed extra doses elsewhere. I filled the prescription
and took the first dose this past Friday afternoon. The result so
far has been the same as my first experience. I am currently
recovering from a major flare but have had all the carbs I could want
and am looking marvelous at the moment. My face is completely calm
except for some itching on my nose in the worst affected areas. From
what I read on the Demodexsoulutions site about the life cycle of
Demodex, I need to cover a two week time span to kill all eggs that
could be hatching since the first dose. I personally would like to
have more assurance of complete eradication than that, so I am going
to order more Ivermcctin from an international pharmacy to allow me
to cover at least four weeks and a follow up. My experience so far
has me convinced that this proceedure will work where other meds.
have failed. I believe I am dealing with an extremely tenatious
parasite that can by it's nature defy all but the most vigilant
effort to expel it from one's body once it has become established at
pathologic levels. Also, according to the Chinese, there are two
types of mites involved... a long and a short. The short are deep
burrowers that are extremely difficult to kill even with extensive
use of Z ointment. I have felt that in my case I may have gotten rid
of the long but not the short as my symptoms have evolved somewhat
from what they were prior to using the Z ointment and these other
drugs. My symptoms have been much milder, but are still a major
problem to contend with in my life.
I think many of us are concluding that true Rosacea and Demodocsis
are likely separate diseases with similar symptoms. I have had
enlarged pores, oily skin, pustules redness, and swelling usually in
response to consumption of carbs and stress. If I go strictly on the
Rosacea diet, these symptoms go away.... mostly anyway. From what I
know and experience, I believe I have Demodocsis, and that this
treatment holds my best chance of beating it. My plan is to take
four to six weekly doses of Ivermectin and continue to use the Z
ointment to prevent re-infestation. Further, I plan to stay away
from dogs and all other potential sources of demodex and keep my
bedding and towels fresh on a daily basis.
I will post weekly, to allow interested people to share in my
progress. If you have any questions, I plan to monitor this site and
will respond.
