The cure for rosacea exists. Dont be fulled by acupuncture or other
treatments. they are good for nothing. I went through hell because
of this condition. However, I was cured. The procedure is called
ETS - Endoscopic Thoracic Sympatectomy. I had this procedure done to
stop excessive sweating on my face. It cuts the sympathetic nerves
that send nervous signals to the skin on the face. Not only my
hyperhydrosis was cured - my rosacea is since then gone forever - or
at least has been gone till now.(I had ETS done 4 years ago - and
just guess - no red bulbous nose - no acne - no flare ups)Is this
called - "killing two birds with one stone" or not?)Of course - some
cosmetic adjustments are necessary to get rid of old enlarged veins -
e.g. laser treatment. I garantee you that, after ETS + laser
treatment your nose will have no different colour than the rest of
your face. You wont have to wake up each morning and be afraid to
look at the mirror. (Too good to be true? - NO) I strongly recomend
this procedure.I know how miserable are people with with this s...t
on their faces. I experienced this - and I want to help. However -
medical community is not interested in my observation - even though
I tried to get this message across. I guess pharma companies are
making lots of money selling uselles stuff. Just imagine 14 million
people with rosacea in america X price of the antibiotic oitment X
12 (number of months in the year) = nice revenue.
Peace for all my brothers and sisters with this condition - and go
get the cure ASAP
Hi, jerrylubas! I remembering hearing on the radio that some news anchors get
this procedure done. I think it could help a lot of people on this board. Was
the procedure done to stop excessive sweating or excessive oiliness? I'm
guessing those are two different things, right? Do you think this procedure
could help people that have seb derm?

As moderators we are tempted to reject any message that claims to be a
cure for rosacea. Such a simplistic approach to a complex disease will
only lead to angst. It can also be difficult to distinguish a scam
from well meaning exhuberance.
On the other hand we want debate to be as wide and reasonable as
possible. Please read all messages claiming to be cures with due care.
ETS is not be entered into lightly and should only be considered by
those whose symptoms match the recommended profile, and after
consideration of risks vs. benefits (and other questions you need to
ask yourself).
I am glad that you have found relief from rosacea. But, I do want
to caution you that ETS is not for the treatment of rosacea. It is
for the treatment of a very specific form of neural flushing. It
should only be used as a last chance treatment (and with the
understanding that more than 50% of patients will experience
bothersome side effects). Once again, I am glad for you, but I am
concerned that ETS surgeons are now advertising this treatment over
the Internet as a treatment for rosacea -- this is not true and very
misleading.

I second this. I got ETS and it only helped ONE small aspect of my
rosacea. ONE of my triggers is social blushing, and ETS eliminated
that. The majority of triggers are still there, so it's only made a
minor dent for me. It sounds like this person's MAJOR trigger was
social/sympathetic blushing. It won't help at all if this type of
blushing isn't a trigger for you. So, remember everyone is
different and that there are risks. You can actually get worse from
it if you get the side effect of gustatory flushing. I was lucky in
that my only side effect was goosebumps when I eat anything super-
sweet....wierd!! Also, my facial skin is a little more dry than it
used to be. If I were to decide now, I wouldn't do it. I just
wouldn't take the risk of surgery and possible ETS side effects for
such a small improvement. Also, consider the fact that beta
blockers are extremely safe and do the same thing that ETS does.
Once again, I got ETS and it helped a little, but I'm far from
cured!!

Thank you Jerrylubas. This was a very convincing observation and it doesn't
appear that you have anything to gain other than the satisfaction of knowing
that you might be able to help some people. It would be wonderful if there was
some kind of research into this as it seems to make a whole lot of sense.
Perhaps you can write to the people that manufacture the equipment used for the
ETS procedure - or one of the key doctors that perform this procedure, ie.
people that have most to gain by it.
Hello, Mr. Barrows and/or Dr. Nase... Have either of you ever heard of
this used for Rosacea treatment? It would be interesting to know if this is
being explored and if this has promise.
In the meantime, Jerry, can you tell us more about this procedure:
1. Cost? Covered under insurance?
2. Actual procedure?
3. What one can expect afterwards? Healing time?
4. Were you ever actually diagnosed for Rosacea or just the excessive sweating?
5. For those of us without excessive sweating - wondering how to find a doctor
that would do it for R?
6. Did your doctor know at the time that this procedure could possibly help the
R also?
Thanks Jerry, in advance, for sharing info.

Thanks again for posting that page. A nice, concise overview of the pros
and cons and important info was just what I needed to get a handle on this
one.
