Can't say enough about Purple Emu's Super-rich Moisturizer. I haven't been
able to use any store-bought type moisturizers in years due to sensitivity.
Had been using mostly jojoba oil, coconut oil, almond oil straight and also
mixed in my own concoctions with a base of zinc oxide. They didn't work the
way I would have liked as moisturizers but they helped and I could tolerate them
on my skin. I was thrilled when I took the plunge and ordered from Purple Emu.
I have been using this moisturizer since November and I love it to pieces!
Hello: @ the end of last year i inquired online here about several
posts that mentioned a solution equiv. results as EMU oil - well, I
thought it up, of course, after ordering 1 oz. EMU & Vit. E (sale for
4 bucks online); and now, recalling, it is MINERAL OIL...
anyone have anything to add about using OTC - Mineral Oil? I haven't
tried it but washing my face daily is too harsh (3 times I mean); but
I've only seen it on sale in larger quantities...
ok, thanks.

Hello, I have yet to catch up with the posts on this board, so I'm
coming in on the tail-end of this thread.....but, one of my favorite
companies does make an alternative for Emu Oil; in fact, it's called
Emulator Oil. I'm not quite sure what you wanted to use it for, but I
use a drop on a damp face (cheeks, actually), then mix a drop or two
into my moisturizer. My face and neck love it, but my chest breaks out
from it. Just an FYI.

I find that straight Emu oil is great. It's a little pricey, (about $6
per ounce) but a little goes a very long way. I got it at my local
health food store.
This brand is called 'Thunder Ridge Emu Products'
I like it b/c it's not so greasy that it makes me break out in actual
acne pimples.
Amy;
Regarding night moisturizers: I'm using my last tube of Cetaphil without
sunscreen: It's great for my skin, esp in Winter. I've been thinking of trying
the Clinique cream, without the steroid: not "urgent-care"
Be vigilant out there and Happy New year to all.

I've been having good luck with the Dermarest psoriasis-formula
moisturizer with salicylic acid; it has a slight fragrance of roses
... does contain parabens for those sensitive to those, it NEEDS it
because there are several botanical oils in it which would go rancid
without preservatives
Candy
(Dermarest's rosacea formulations all seem to contain alcohol ! go figure ... )
I've been having a lot of luck with Vanicream. It is not too expensive
and has been the least offending moisturizer I've encountered. It is
designed for those w/ sensitive skin and does not contain any dyes,
fragrance, parabens, etc. I also use their sunscreen, but am not as
crazy about it as I am about the moisturizer. I've found it at my
university pharmacy and at Walgreens.

Vanicream is wonderful on my rosacea skin. I was using the Vanicream
Lite Lotion, and just switched to the Vanicream Moisturizing Skin
Cream. The Cream is thicker and moisturizes my skin better. So, I'd
say the lite lotion version is good for oily skin and the cream
version is good for dry skin.
Cheers!

Also, I think the same company makes "Free and Clear" shampoo, which
I also use.
Here's a little tip if you have a hard time finding a rosacea-
friendly conditioner for your hair:
I don't like using conditioners because they leave a residue and are
often fragranced, which can rub off onto my ultra sensitive skin. So,
I tend to just use the Free and Clear Shampoo mixed with a little oil
to help soften my hair. This works pretty well, but it still leaves
my hair static-prone.
Recently I tried mixing a palm full of the free and clear shampoo
with a little of the Vanicream Lite Lotion (I keep one in the shower,
so it was convenient) instead of oil. It works a lot better and I've
been doing this regularly now. It rinses out very well and my hair is
soft and shiny with no static and no worries about anything
irritating getting onto my skin. Yay!
So, for me, this mixture serves as a shampoo & conditioner in one.
After all that raving, I should say that I am not affiliated with
Vanicream at all. Just a happy customer :)
Cheers!

I'm glad that you cleared that up because I had bought and tried the Vanicream
lite lotion and although I found it nice, it wasn't enough for my dry skin. I'm
going to look for the cream now instead and give that a try. Thanks for the
heads up !

I wish I had tried it months ago. I started using the Vanicream Lite
three times a day instead of switching to the thicker version. I
assumed it would have different ingredients, but it doesn't! Yay! So,
now I am great just using the thicker version twice a day.
