why are parabens NOT GOOD for rosaceans?   Message List

Re: [rosacea] Re:why are parabens NOT GOOD for rosaceans?

Hi,

Parabens are chemicals commonly added to products to prevent bacteria and fungi
from growing in liquids, creams or gels while they sit on the shelf.

Some people claim that parabens might cause cancer, or can affect estrogen in
the body, but researchers generally say such fears are groundless and that it is
safer to use products with parabens than to risk use of contaminated products.

However, perhaps note this comment:

"In individuals with normal skin, parabens are, for the most part,
non-irritating and non-sensitizing. Parabens can, however, cause skin irritation
and contact dermatitis in individuals with paraben allergies, a small percentage
of the general population."

Another option is favouring home-made 'natural' paraben-free remedies where
possible, keeping them in the fridge or even the freezer to prolong their useful
life.

Kind regards,

Aurelia
