Hi Liz...
As far as I know, Restasis is not available in Canada. I donšt know if this
is due to our drug agency not liking it or whether it has to do with
licensing/production issues. I think I understand where youšre coming
fromsome docs just like prescribing antibioticsbut Canada has not approved
drugs where the adverse affects outnumbered the benefits. I donšt think
wešre as tied to manufacturers here as the States is. Anyway, it might be
worth checking out.

Everett,
I've been using Restasis for about a year now with a
fair amount of success. For me, at least, the dosing
seems to be important. When I was asymptomatic (after
three IPL sessions- I guess I'm due for a follow-up?),
my doctor suggested that I try going from twice to
once a day. Well, I did, and it appears to have
stopped working. Again, it's hard to tell cause and
effect though given the number of variables/triggers
involved. Anyway, I'm going back to twice a day.
I'll be curious to see if I get the desired effect,
which would mean that I wouldn't have to go back on an
oral antibiotic.
As a sidenote, I recently had an ophthalmologist at
the Mayo Clinic (I was there for another health issue)
tell me that restasis is toxic and was barely approved
by the FDA. I have no idea whether or not this is
true. In fact, I have decided to take this for what I
think it is, a reflection of his opinion that oral
antibiotics are the only way to go, and am continuing
my use since it did seem to work for me.
