V-Beam Laser made veins worse...   Message List

Hi all,
I have been a lurker for some time, but have only recently joined
and become a little active.
I am a 38 year old male and have had rosacea for many years but I am
fortunate in some regards that my redness and flushing is relatively
mild and confined to my ears more often than not. My pustules and
papules are also mild and confined to my nose while being controlled
predominantly by metrogel.
What I do have that bothers me terribly and makes me horribly self-
concious is the road map of Florida on my nose. I have numerous
telangiectasia/spider veins all over my nose and spilling a little
bit onto each cheek.
I have now had a couple of v-beam treatments for them and they have
not worked at all. In fact, I am convinced it has made the
situation worse. The first time I wasn't totally sure so I went and
had it done a second time at my derms advice but now I am 100%
certain.
After the visit, my veins will be lighter and finer but usually
within a couple of days they come back darker, larger and more
defined than before. In addition I have gotten a few new ones I
didn't previously posess within a week after treatment. I am
probably like all of us Rosaceans and I analyze my face quite a
bit. There is not a shadow of a doubt in my mind that undergoing
the v-beams made me look worse.
When I bring my concern up to my derm her suggestion is more
treatments. Howevever, once bitten twice shy.
Has anyone else had a similar experience or am I just the lucky one
in a million who has no luck?
I try to rebound from every disappontment but being self-conscious
about my appearance 24/7 is really taking a toll.
Thanks,
Rob
