Am I going nuts or ....???
Just came back from a vision check through a reputable clinic associated with
my medical care provider and am sitting here feeling totally stunned. As we
were discussing my prescription for glasses, I was asked if I was interested
in contact lenses also. Told him that, no, because of my ocular rosacea,
contact lenses are usually uncomfortable for me. He said: "There is no such
thing". Thinking I had had a bad senior moment and perhaps said something other
than I intended, I repeated that I had ocular rosacea. He again, looking me
straight in the eye and with voice slightly raised, said: 'THERE IS NO SUCH
THING AS OCULAR ROSACEA". As I stood there going "but, but ... but.....", he
said "Rosacea is an ailment of the skin" (okay, have been living with this
affliction for decades, nothing like telling me something I don't know!) He
paused, then said: "sometimes rosacea might cause a little dryness of the eyes".
I was so stunned, I couldn't argue ... besides, I had this horrible feeling
it would turn into one of those childish scenarios: "do too" "do not" "Do
Too!" "Do Not!".
Anyway, does anyone know where I can obtain medical confirmation that this
person might accept to prove that there really is such a thing? Is there a web
site or book or something, other than rosacea sufferers' sites or books ... a
medical authority or clinic or something that would be a bona fide, certified
medical source that he would agree was legit?
I am really annoyed (okay, much more than that but I like to pretend that I
am a lady and don't really know all those other words floating around in my
head which I would really love to spew out right now!). I need to pursue this
matter with the clinic as I may be going here for the rest of my life.
Any help anyone can give would be very, very, very much appreciated. Thanks!
