Re: [rosacea] diets

Hi Kristen,

Well, all I can tell you is that over at the Rosacea diet support group there
are a good handful of people that say they are 90% clear of Rosacea symptoms ALL
due to restricting carbohydrates and sugar. Rachel inparticular is absolutely
fabulous and one amazing woman who really put the Rosacea Diet (a book and plan
by Brady Barrows) to heart and she is so helpful! I have not been as perfect as
Rachael and Brady at the diet but everytime I control carbs in every form I am
better off. I just have to stick to it. Check out the support group over there
and ask questions. You will find it is a small group (because it takes VERY
special people to restrict their diets so well) but a wealth of info and help.

Take care,
Elena

Hi everyone,

For years now I have been puting myself on different 'diets' to try
to help my rosacea and convincing myself that the problem is food. I
stick to each one for 3 months and when it doesn't work I move on to
a new one. I've tried wheat free diet, dairy free diet, vegetarian
diet, low acid diet, low salicilate diet, no sugar/refined carb diet,
detox/food combining diet, no preservative/additives - fresh food
only diet .... I'm really strict and spend ages looking at the backs
of packets in supermarkets or writing out detailed lists of what I
can and can't eat.
So far though, my skin seems unaffected by these diets.

A few weeks ago I just couldn't stand it anymore and I had a real pig
out on all my favourite foods like chocolate and cakes.
And what do you think happened to my skin? Nothing. It was exactly
the same as it always is!

I like to think I generally eat pretty healthy - lots of
fruit/vegetables and I don't drink alcohol or coffee. But I do love
chocolate and cake which, from what I've read, is supposed to be bad
for rosacea. And yet it doesn't seem to make any difference to my
skin when I indulge in these treats.

I know that for some of you you have been able to identify specific
trigger foods that cause your skin to worsen. But as far as diets go
has anyone else found that these don't seem to work. I'm wondering
why I am bothering. Life is short and if I feel like having cake and
chocolate why shouldn't I? I am really sick of these diets.

Has anyone ever had any real, definite success with a diet for their
rosacea. And I mean a large improvement. Or has anyone else found
that diet doesn't seem to have anything to do with their rosacea. I
mean, I don't know what other group of foods I can possibly cut out.
I feel like I have tried every possible likely trigger.

So now, for the first time in a long time I am not on a diet and I am
letting myself eat chocolate and all my other favourites. I think
I'll try the cocoanut milk idea that has been suggested and fatten
myself up a bit!

Anyway, I just wanted to have a whinge about it, thanks for listening.

kristen
