So today I went for another derm consult (this guy does vbeam; I've
been getting consults for both vbeam and IPL). The dr. looks at my
face, looks at the papules/pustules on the sides of my face, and
says that he doesn't think that it's rosacea but instead that it's
keratosis pilaris faceii, which apparently is similar in
presentation but different in terms of the underlying disorder? He
said that he'd still recommend the same treatment, vbeam, as a first
course of action to reduce overall redness and visible papules (I
travel a lot, and when I do I end up looking like someone went up
and down my cheeks with a pencil making dots all over it, one dot
for every papule).
Does this sound right/reasonable to folks? All you fantastic drs
who have been joining us, are rosasea and KP so close in
presentation that it's easy to mistake one for the other? Is vbeam
the right choice for an initial treatment? The derm also
recommended microdermabrasion, but appreciated my hesitancy on it
given the sensitive nature of my skin.
TIA!
