Hello Group,
As a couple of other people have mentioned, I'm glad Dr.
Nase also bought
up the topic of oil of oregano.
A while back there was a message posted to the board that contained info by a Dr
James
Meschino D.C., M.S, who is a chiropractor and holds a master's degree in
nutrition.
He recommended to use oil of oregano both orally and topically as an alternative
rosacea
treatment.
He also suggested that if you are taking oil of oregano orally that you should
take a good
acidophilus / prebiotic supplement with it because along with killing the bad
bacteria in
your stomach / intestine, it will also kill the good bacteria.
I managed to get in touch with Dr. Meschino via email and he told me that he
makes a
range of oral and topical oil of oregano products which can be found at
'www.adeeva.com'
but I have never tried them so I'm not sure what they are like.
I searched around the web and found a great company who makes oil of oregano
that is
pre-mixed with olive oil. You can find it at 'www.wildoiloforegano.com'.
The company that makes it is based in Canada I think. I live in Australia and my
order
usually arives in under 2 weeks.
At first I took the oil of oregano orally. I put about 10 - 15 drops under my
tongue and
washed it down very quickly with 2 glasses of water as I found that if the oil
comes into
contact with your throat or other parts of you mouth, it will sting and burn, so
be cautious.
It recommends on the label of the bottle to not let the oil of oregano come into
contact
with your mucous membranes.
I found that taking it orally definitely helped calm my acne down and also
helped with
stomach bloating that I get as oil of oregano kills candida yeast. I'm not too
sure, but I
think it has helped control my rosacea to a certain extent.
After a while of taking it internally, I started to use it topically by mixing
about 5 drops of
oil of oregano into an all natural moisturiser I use. I mainly used this mix on
my forehead
and found that it really helped keep my acne under control, help heal existing
acne
spots quite quickly and smooth out my skin quite a bit.
As oil of oregano has antifungal properties, I also found that it helped get rid
of the seb
derm / flakeiness on my forehead.
One thing you have to be careful of is that if you are using it topically, mix
it into a base
like an all natural moisturiser and make sure that the mix isn't too strong or
it will
probably irritate your skin.
Everytime I apply it to my forehead, my skin will initially go red and get a
slight burning /
warm sensation for a couple of minutes but then it calms down.
It is best to experiment with applying it to a small area on different parts of
your face to
see how your skin reacts. I found that the skin on my forehead could tolerate
the oil of
oregano mix much better than the skin on my cheeks where my rosacea is most
predominant.
I hope this info has been helpful to some of you. I just thought I'd let
everyone know about
my experience as when I started to try oil of oregano I couldn't find any
information
anywhere about it on the web so I hope this has helped a little.
Cheers - Trav
