I was off wheat for 5 months. I ate REALLY healthy, meal by meal for that whole
time. My skin actually got worse -- I felt intense disappointment. One of my
healthcare practitioners told me at the time that my body was throwing off
toxins, that the skin is considered a third kidney or a third lung for
elimination purposes. Various nutrition practitioners I trust and consistently
follow agree that the U.S. eats entirely too much wheat. Moderation and variety
seems to be the watchword. Overall my face looks much better today than it has
the past 4.5 years I've had rosacea. I fully believe that eating well, no matter
what, helps all the body systems in the long run while we heal from rosacea.
It's nearly impossible to find definitive foods to stay away from. There's too
many factors that contribute to rosacea flareups. I can eat the same food on two
different days and get two different reactions on my face. You may have to do
what many of us do here ... trial and error to find what works, and what
doesn't. You might have to stop a food temporarily during the healing process,
but who knows right now if that'll be forever???
