What generic pharmas could challenge Galderma for Metro market?   Message List

Happy New Year Rosaceans:
Picked up my first tube of Metrogel of 2005 today at the Target, and was amazed
that the sticker price for a 45g tube was $75. Because my health plan's
deductible resets at the beginning of the year, my cost was only a little less
-- $50 or so. It's time to give the free market a nudge. Metronidizole has been
off-patent for years, but nobody else is challenging Galderma for the rapdily
growing rosacea market, which is why they can charge $75 for a month's supply.
Surely there must be companies out there that would be happy to start making a
Metrogel/lotion/cream generic for a mere $40 a tube. Or $5, which is still
probably more than it costs to make. Medical pros, got any ideas? What companies
are known for generics, esp. generic topicals, that we might contact? Jay
