what kind of controversial thoughts? I had ETS done in winter of
1999, or maybe right around new years after 2000... I had the
Photofacials done before this surgery in summer of 1999..DO NOT TAKE
THE DECISION FOR THIS SURGERY LIGHTLY!
I had cold, clammy hands and a very overactive sympathetic nervous
system, causing major blushing, flushing from autonomic nerves, cold,
clammy hands all the time. I still have major anxiety and some
physical symptoms of it, but the reaction of blushing and flushing
has almost completely been diminished, 90%+... The cold clammy hands
has also been resolved, the sweat on them 100% fixed and the coldness
90%... The sweating on my face(I had hyperhidrosis) was extreme to
exercise as well as my hands and would really make flushing to
exercise quite bad, and I love exercising so was a bad rosacea
flare. I cannot sweat above my nipple line, 100% improvement, I do
not sweat to exercise anymore, this has been miraculous and no one
wonders why my face is not sweating. This has also helped my skin
and seb derm symptoms being that the sweat and oils arent clogging my
pores, though I kinda miss sweating on my face a little, makes me
feel a little "different" so to speak. I do not blush or flush to
anger or strong emotions anymore. Though, I do feel like I am
blushing if I have to talk inf ront of people or class, though
physically I am NOT blushing... In the beginning I had some mild
compensatory sweating, this has basically completely resolved. I
have really no ill effects of the surgery. I do have gustatory
sweating(sweating to foods) only sometimes and occassionally to
certain foods. This is also very mild and I will get a slight
tingling and sweating on forehead, scalp, maybe even legs to foods
like VERY spicy chicken wings, sour lemons or sour foods, hot wasabi
or tabasco sauce, there are a few others though I cant think of them
right now. This surgery has been a GOD SEND for me and my overactive
sympathetic nervous system problem. As I said, I still have strong
anxiety symptoms and some somatic symptoms because of it(lump in
throat, dry mouth, headaches, lack of concentration, very mild
depression at times) but as far as the blushing and sweating and its
affects on my Rosacea it has all but exceeded any hopes I had going
in. I also had my procedure done by Dr. David Nielson in san antonio
Texas, like Dr.Nase had. I want to EMPHASIZE this point, do not
think this surgery should be taken lightly or just done for people
with mild to moderate or even severe rosacea. It is for a very
specific form of flushing and blushing or hyperhidrosis, and for
those being disabled by the powerful over active sympathetic nerves.
WARNING- THIS SURGERY IS NOT FOR THE EVERYDAY PERSON SUFFERING FROM
ROSACEA, IN ANY STAGE!!! You will know it if you have this problem, I
certainly could not function with the way I was going and I had
exhausted all other treatment options. I had done the Photoderm, I
tried antidepressants/anxiolytics(paxil, klonopin, xanax etc...), I
used beta blockers(inderal and propanolol I think), I used Clonidine
and monoxodine. I could not continue on this path and could not deal
with the many side effects of many of these drugs. I made an
educated, wise, informed decision after much debate, processing
information, deliberation. I researched a few different specialists
in the field and spoke with patients who had a case just like mine.
With all this being said, I am so very pleased I had this ETS
procedure done with Dr.Nielson, he had the newest best technology, 2
pencil dot incisions under my armpit area, There is NO WAY to tell I
had a major surgery done, there was no downtime really, and he was
incredible! I hope this answers your question and I wish you all
luck... Take care
Mike

Hi Mike,
I am new to the group and in reading your message, the "ETS" part,
caught my eye. I was just wondering how long ago you had the
procedure and
what you thought your success rate was. I also had the procedure done
for
flushing. I've read some controversial comments on this surgery and
was
wondering what your thoughts were.
Thanks!
