Subject: wow-Beard areas post IPL
I had much loss of facial hair during my 4 IPL treatments. The NP
that performed the procedure told me that it would be temporary.
When it did not appear to be growing back, I asked the NP's office
to contact Dr. Bitter, Sr.'s office (she was Dr. Bitter, Sr.
trained) to inquire about it. They got back to me that YES it could
be permanent and advised me to apply Rogaine to my face and that
they would pay for it. (I did not follow that advice because my
skin is barely able to tolerate any moisturizer let alone Rogaine
twice a day - plus there is no evidence of Rogaine growing facial
hair.) I posted previously about my experience but most people say
their facial hair grows back. Well, it's been 3 years and I'm still
waiting. If I let my beard grow out at all it looks patchy, and I
believe I've lost about 35-50% of my facial hair on the sides of my
face. I feel like I now have to shave everyday because of how it
looks. My advise would be that if it is at all possible, avoid the
beard area, unless you feel the gain with respect to your rosacea
may offset the potential loss of some of your beard.
