My final Ivermectin report   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #64452 of 104839 |

It's six days since I completed the Ivermectin trial (at the rate for severe
infestations - 14 consecutive daily doses of 1.2 ml of 1% solution). To recap, I
rarely flush and the main symptoms are related to heavy sebum production and
keratin plugging on and around the nose, but mainly concentrated on a one-inch
patch of really bad skin.

There were no problems with the Ivomec, but I don't drink alcohol so can't
comment on interactions. My pores quickly cleared and the improvements were
impressive, although Geoffrey says that it "usually takes at least a 30 day
cycle for this to normalize". Production of sebum was cut by perhaps 90% and the
worst patch of skin peeled constantly to produce paler and more healthy-looking
skin. The puffy skin on my inner cheeks went pale and flat and the other
swelling reduced markedly.

On Day 14, I noticed a broad stripe of really white skin down one side of the
nose and a narrower stripe on the opposite side. It looked as if my whole face
would be pale and completely clear within a few more days. It was thrilling, but
then the Ivomec ran out ...

Some of the changes began to reverse. It's hard to quantify these things, but
I'd say that sebum production is now 70 - 80% of what it was before and the
pores are clogging a bit, although not badly - no p&p, or not yet. Although the
skin on the inner cheeks has stayed flat, the spreading pallor has gone and my
skin colour is mostly a pale rose.

There have been no changes over the past three days, but perhaps the 30-day
cycle of renewal Geoffrey mentioned will bring improvements. It looks as if
mites were a big part of my problem and I'm glad to have tried the Ivermectin.
Even with this little deterioration, it's 3 steps forward and only 1 step back.

To give the Ivermectin a clear field, I had discontinued my previous daily
regime of 20 mg Isotretinoin and 10 minutes with Dermalux's all-red LED lamp.
Over the past several months, they have been slowly but steadily calming and
healing my skin, but neither were strong enough to stop this horrendous clogging
of the pores, which so often led to pustules. Now that the pores are
considerably clearer, it will be interesting to see how the healing process
resumes, particularly with the LED lamp. I feel optimistic that things are on
the right track, but of course we're all different. And some of us are rather
more different than others!

Kind regards,

Aurelia
