Ivermectin

Yikes.

I did not believe that mites played any role at all in rosacea
symptoms because of the poor studies that were performed. There
were many studies performed in the past, but they were published in
weak journals that don't review the article for content and
protocols, etc.

I am still with Andrew and Chuck and crew that mites are not major
players in the underlying cause of rosacea. However, the recent
well published series of papers clearly demonstrates that they may
play a secondary role in some rosacea symptoms -- especially those
resistant to traditional treatment.

Steroids and topical immunosuppresants are a big cause of mite
infestation. Slightly altered skin immune system responsiveness is
a second reason (chronic dermal inflammation alters the innate skin
immune system slightly). Increased facial heat is probably up their
near the top -- increases the size of sebaceous glands for bettter
environment, increases lipase production form demodex and increases
reproduction.

My main point was that in those rosacea sufferers with angry face
sydrome, steroid rosacea, over use of elidel, large pores, pores
with sebaceous keratin plugging the pores, then why not try a simple
nearly-risk free treatment.

In animals it takes a while. In humans one treatment can erradicate
them for 6 months. The most widely used treatments in these 9
articles in one treatment with 12 mgs each Monday for one month.
This knocks the count of demodex, hatching demodex, larvae and eggs
to nearly zero. But they slowly may come back, but are easily
killed with one treatment every 6 months.

There is one almost sure fact -- if you have rhinophyma or excess
sebum production or keratin plugging in the nose area, then you
probably have more than 5 mites per gland (this is the value that is
consiidered to be pathogenic). 5 mites per gland plus increased
facial heat causes the release of lipase which can dilate blood
vessels and cause nose swelling and fibrosis.

There is an international pharmacy that sells ivermectin from
Australia for a very reasonable price. I think Aurelia eluded to
that pharmacy. It does contain the active ingredient that is needed
and can be double checked by an International PDR.

Rosacea is a genetic based disorder where there are protein
alterations in blood vessels, nerves and the epidermis. This is the
heart of rosacea. Everything else is secondary.
