After joining this group in 1999 and realizing that steroid nasal sprays
contribute to, and in my case, bring on Rosacea, I switched medications.

I do use Astelin, the antihistamine spray you mentioned, and my allergist
has me combine it with NasalCrom (mast cell stabilizer now sold OTC). I
simply avoid taking them within 20 minutes of oneanother. They do work
wonders for me! It's important to use the NasalCrom every four hours or so,
depending upon your symptoms and time of year. Tey are more of a preventive
action than something that should be used once you start sneezing, etc.
The one drawback I've noticed is the constant use of the NasalCrom does make
my eyes a bit drier, though.

Like you, I have severe allergies. I have been getting the immunotherapy
(shots) for eleven years and I take Zyrtec every day. Just this year, at
the age of 41, I've noticed my allergy symptoms were almost non-existent,
while those around me were wheezing and sneezing here in the Northeast.
Maybe I'm finally turning a corner!
