Re: Testing NO Inhibitors - Now not Later
Reply #56 on: July 31st, 2001, 11:53pm
We now have a growing list of 29 physicians for the NO trials
(dermatologists, laser experts, vascular specialists and one
neurologist). Geoffrey will have to interview each one by phone
before they are accepted. Most are from the US, two from Canada, two
from UK. Geoffrey will try to make this into a multicenter trial to
be published in a major dermatological article, so he will need
consistency and cooperation.

What to show physician
Right now the best literature to show the physician is the chapter
from Dr. Nase's book. There is plenty of info there and peer-
reviewed references for them to look up especially the ones that
demonstrate decreased blood flow in skin with topical application.
Geoffrey will make a handout when he is able to type (hopefully with
the expertise of sadhelp) that should be very helpful.
NO inhibitors can only be given topically, as oral NO inhibitors will
cause hypertension.

Center of NO testing

Geoffrey will be travelling to California to work side by side with
Dr. Bitter Sr. on NO inhibitors. He will try to stay for 10 to 14
days. He would love to meet many of your faces. They will be
looking at the effect of NO inhibitors on chronic facial redness and
active facial flushing/blushing. They will also evaluate the
effectiveness of NO inhibitor treatment in blocking regrowth of
vessels after photoderm treatment.
Geoffrey will be readily available to ALL other physicians entering
this trial.
Will someone please post this info to david pascoe's rosacea group.
For some reason I am not able.
Take care,
