Wanted to give everyone an update on the Finacea and stinging issue.
Spoke with my dermatologist today. She agreed that Finacea might not
be the best choice for me given that I'm still having the stinging
after 5 months of use. She's having me replace Finacea with Metro
lotion, continuing Retin A in the evenings (or every other evening).
Also, she recommended that I stop using Cetaphil moisturizer and
cleanser and switch to something called Cevera (not sure if I'm
spelling this correctly). She said this can be purchased at any
Walgreens/CVS.
Hopefully this new regime will help my skin adjust to the new ultra
dry climate in which I'm living. Strangely, I've actually been feeling
that I'm tolerating the Retin A fairly well and that it's been the
Finacea that has been most drying to me (A huge help with tolerating
the Retin A has been moisturizing BEFORE I apply it -- this has made
all the difference).
Anyway, hopefully improvement is around the corner.
It still frustrates me that my rosacea was very dormant until I went
to a dermatologist about 1.5 yrs. ago. I was starting to have some
minor outbreaks, but everything was very much under control. Even so,
the dermatologist prescribed nightly use of Retin A and daily use of
Finacea. This irritated my skin so I discontinued these topicals
shortly thereafter, but my skin has never been the same since. In
short, I haven't been able to regain the stability I enjoyed prior to
this initial use of these medications.
