Re: [rosacea] T-tree Oil

I was diagnosed with roscea and ocular roseca about 2 weeks ago. however my
symptoms started to apprear last summer.  I too was given tetracycline and was
told by my doctor that it would not cure it just suppress it until I became
immune to the medication. I am also using metrogel. I have recieved alot of info
from this support group and have learned alot in this short time. While I can't
recommend anything as of yet, I have began using natural remedies and basically
cleansing my system and doing a sort of 'detox" for a lack of a better word. The
last 3 yrs I have gone a thru a very traumatic ordeal and have been placed on so
many meds for depression insomnia, etc.  From what I have learned from the this
support group and thru my own research, I dedcided that skin erruptions, or skin
diseases are alot of times signs that your body is sick.  Our skin can tell us
alot about our general health. So maybe my skin is telling me I need to take
better care of
myself.  I have begun taking Yeast Defense, feverfew, omega 3 fatty acid,
multivitamin, milk thistle and a parasite cleanser program. All of this I
obtained at my local vitmain store. I began using Aveeno fragrance free calming
cream. I even use Gold Bond Ultimate Soothing, with chamomille (frangrance free
on my eye lids. It doesn't burn and it feesl cool and soothing. It even helps
sooth the itchy feeling.  I won't receommend this to anyone yet cause I have
just started this myself but I will post my progress in hopes of it working for
me and for others.  I also stopped drinking soda and I drink green tea and
water. I feel like if I can detox and get all the artificial crap out of my
system, maybe it will help my skin and bring me some relief.  This may not be a
cure but I can't help but think it will ease and get my symptoms under control
and not suppress them.

There are so many things out there and I had a lady say that everyone seems to
have their own thing taht helps.  it takes a bit of detective work but with some
trial and error and self education I think we can ge this terrible disease under
control. Hope I have helped you in some way.  I will let everyone know how my
progress goes.

Hi Everybody,

Thanks for providing so much information - I had no idea there was
so much out there. Briefly, I have had Rosacea for 14 years now
and luckily for the first 10 I used a topical cream which worked very
well. Howver, it started making the redness worse in the end so I
stopped using it. My GP was no help and I had to insist on
referral to a dermatologist myself. I was prescribed Oxy -
Tetracycline 1000g per day for 1 month which I finished taking about
6 weeks ago now. It did supress the redness and the bumps seems to
go flat against my skin but they never actually disappeared, also my
pore size reduced (always a good thing), however, now Im back to my
original condition. Ive tried zinc oxide cream at night, zinc
supplements, vitamin A. I use a very gentle cleanser and moisturer.
I use water to remove the cleanser and maybe thats not a good thing
to do ? I tried using Tree Oil when the acne got very bad and it
was like using alcohol products on my face, it really reacted and I
was bright angry tomatoe red for several days. However, now its
spreading up my forehead and its very depressing. If anybody has an
ideas or comments, Id really appreciate hearing from you.

Best Regards,
Helen
