It is absolutely correct that there are no reports linking demodex
as the cause of rosacea. However, there are probably more research
done on demodex and rosacea than any other type research. For
instance:

What other research subject has more reports than the number of
reports I have cited on the above page? Maybe you can come up with
such a subject, but nevertheless, the number of research reports
linking rosacea with demodex is impressive. Obviously not all rosacea
is caused by demodex. But there is a significant number of rosacea
reports showing that eradication of demodex or treatment for demodex
improves rosacea. This indicates that there is a variant of rosacea
which has been dubbed demodectic rosacea. Not all rosacea is
granulomatous rosacea, yet it is considered a rosacea variant. Demodectic
rosacea is just as valid a variant as demodicosis or granulomatous rosacea
and will continue to be the subject of further research since demodex
and rosacea are linked even though many continue to dismiss demodex as
simply an aggravating factor in rosacea not fully understood or downplaying
the role demodex has in rosacea. It may play a minor role but nevertheless
demodex's role is established firmly in clinical studies, whether these are
double blind, placebo controlled or not. Even the NRS continues to fund
such studies on demodex.

The debate continues whether the demodex has the major role or whether
demodex plays a minor role and the big one is whether it plays either role on
pre-existing rosacea or not. As everyone says, 'we need more research.' And
no doubt there will continue to be rosacea research linking demodex and rosacea.
