Dear Erin,
I had exactly the same reaction when I first tried Z-cream. After 5
days I gave up. Then I did more research and decided that I would try
again. Same initial effect, but this time I persisted for the 14-20
days that it takes to kill most of the mites. It was pretty awful. I
hid away. But the "measles" did clear, the incredible itching went, the
redness quieted. After three months I put the cream on every other
night. The effects now are very subtle. Generalized pinkness is
reducing. For example, I notice that the colour of my jawline and
lower checks is now the colour of my neck.
See my posts (search the messages for "Nadia"), particularly 3525 and
3537. I also posted photos.
Brady is right though to suggest that you (your friend) desist with Z
cream if allergy is suspected. I initially thought my reaction was
allergy to the sulphur. One of Brady's messages (Thursday, August 18,
2005) reads:
There has been two reports here that the Z cream
caused allergic reactions. Gail was the first to report
this in message 3003. The second report came from
Nadia at messages 3166 and 3168. I wouldn't rule out
the Z cream until you are sure you are allergic to it.
I've changed my mind. I'm sure my reaction was not allergy but due to
the mites being killed.
Best
