Lori, Brady, and everyone...
This is day 29 for me, and I can honestly say that this diet is the best thing
I've done for myself in all my 55 years. Here are the changes I've seen in this
brief time:
Joint pain which previously had me in physical therapy and in repeated doctor
visits is gone. Completely gone. I now have full range of motion in my neck (an
MRI had shown arthritis). My knees don't make that cellophane crackle when I
walk up the stairs, and I don't say "Oh, my back" every time I try to straighten
up. I don't know how much of that can be attributed to the diet itself and how
much to the water consumption (I'm sure I was chronically dehydrated before the
diet), but whatever it is, it has been a blessing beyond words.
A stubborn toenail fungus has cleared up. The doctor had said that it would take
a year at least with oral medication, and even then might not go away. It's
gone. I think I was feeding it with the sugar.
My skin has a finer texture than it has had in YEARS. I also changed most of the
topicals that I was using, and the emu oil has made a big difference, but again
I think the water has been the biggest factor, and without this diet I would
NEVER have given up my Dr. Pepper for WATER.
I've lost over ten pounds...not one of my goals, but I look and feel better and
more energetic and more "centered" than I can remember ever feeling before. I
really notice it at school...I teach middle school kids, and even THEY can't
ruffle my new serenity!
I don't crave sugar any more, and I don't think there was a person on earth who
was a bigger sugar fiend than I was. When we ate out, I would order dessert
first and eat it while I waited for the dinner. I could polish off half a cherry
pie in one evening. I didn't have a weight problem, but now that I've lost some
weight, I can see how much better I look with skin over muscle instead of over
fat.
My husband is beginning to eat healthier now that he's fixing my meals for me
most of the time. He's seen the big difference in my overall condition, so I
haven't had to say a word to convince him.
I've discovered tea! I never tried tea or coffee in my life, but finally tried
tea as a bit of change from all the water, and it has been a delightful new
addition to my day. (Check out www.strandtea.com) My favorite so far is rooibos,
filled with vitamins, nutrients, and antioxidants.
I have a very consistent energy level...not the ups and downs of hunger and
"too-fullness" that I used to have. I don't get "hungry" and I have broken the
"I'm sitting down therefore I should be eating" habit.
I'm looking forward to the next 30 days to see if a continuation of the diet
(with a slight increase in carbs) will bring even more benefits. I have an
appointment with my doctor on February 18, and she doesn't know that I've been
doing this. I can't wait to see what she says. I'm going to offer to loan her
Dr. Nase's book. If she doesn't seem interested in learning more about rosacea,
then I may just start looking around for another doctor.
The diet DOES work. I still can't control the hot room problem at school...and
in other places...but I will control the things I can and try not to worry about
the things I can't control.
Thanks again, Brady...I don't remember how I happened to stumble onto the
rosacea list in the first place, but it has led me to a new and wonderful point
in my life!
