Re: [rosacea-diet-users-support-group] someone who sees a differance?

Just felt the need to comment. Yes, the rosacea diet has been a huge
help to me. I have been on the diet for a year now. I have lost
weight and had other health benefits such as reduced gastric acidity
and reduced joint pain. I don't complain about either.

My conclusions are: A high blood sugar level does cause flushing.
Repeated flushing does cause roseasa. My type is teleangiectasia.
Carb consumption does cause blood sugar elevations and blood sugar
elevations cause flushing.

A complicating factor is that when your body is starved of nutrients
it creates its own blood sugar increase through a process called
gluconeogenesis. This is probably why some people trying desparately
to avoid all dietary rosacean triggers still have flushing problems.

The answer is- Control your blood sugar levels with a low carb diet.
Never let yourself be hungry. Use cheese, nuts, meats and other low
carb foods to keep your body from creating sugars from your body reserves.

Repeated flushing causes the changes that are manifest as roseasea.
Once you have roseacea the repeated flusing and general appearance can
be helped by other treatments. I have been greatly helped by four PDL
treatments. I have a close friend with acne roseacea that has been
helped by using tetracycline antibiotic, as well as low carb diet.

Brady has served roseacean sufferers well with his diet. Someday the
role of blood sugars will be more generally accepted.

Sun and cold both affect roseacea. Avoid both. Avoid foods that
cause elevated blood sugar levels. Avoid hunger. Keep your diet as
varied and fibrous as you can. Avoid all topicals other than
sunscreens, use laser treatmants and antibiotics as recommended by
your dermatologist.

..Mel
