I thought I would run a post for some people interested in this
diet. I followed it hard core for 30 days and did see improvement.
SInce then I have increased my carb intake and as long as I watch my
total and minimize some trigger foods I am controlling my major
embarrasing flares. I have had rosacea for 15 years and it has
really gotten worse in the last two years. I was flaring where I
would get red splotches on my face and it looked like a big allergic
reaction. I used to eat high carb and low fat. When I changed the
diet I saw a way to control.
I went out and got a George Foreman grill and my body has adapted to
a low carb lifestyle. I had sugar cravings at first and they
subsided. I typically eat a low carb protein bar for breakfast and
grilled meat or fish veggies for lunch and a salad for dinner.
Sometimes I flip and have salad for lunch and the main protein meal
for dinner. For snacks I eat celery and whipped cream, almonds,
pumpkin seeds and some other mixed nuts. I drink Diet Rite every
now and then when I am looking for a soda.
I think right now so long as I keep my carbs below 100 carbs/day and
do not blow out on carbs or sugar I can control for the most part my
reddness even though it never completely leaves as my tzone stays
somewhat pink. I cheat every now and then and have a small bag of
doritos or a cup of Ice Cream and so long as I have been staying
within 100 carbs for the day.
I cannot drink any beer at all not even the low carb beer without a
flare for some reason. I also cannot drink anything with Aspartame
without a real bad flare. I used to never drink coffee as I thought
it was flaring and I found when I ice my coffee and do not use
Aspartame I am ok on two cups max per day without a flare.
Anyway I thought I would pass on my thoughts.
Brady...............thanks for this diet as I might have spent
several more months on antibiotics and other drugs which I have now
for the part reduced to Elidel Cream and moisturizers.
