Hi, Nissy,
I highly recommend Dr. Perricone's book, "The Perricone Prescription", for all
info on supplements.
Probiotics is an amazing concept, actually. Since humans developed in a world
full of all kinds of bacteria, we actually NEED many types of "friendly"
bacteria in our GI tract. The standard of living in the USA creates a level of
"cleanliness" that is therefore actually harmful, in this respect. Also, any
use of antibiotics completely kills all these "friendly" bacteria. No one knows
how complex our "symbiotic relationship" with these bacteria might be, but there
could be benefits far beyond our knowledge of this.

A parallel example might be the statistics on polio in the 1950s. It was found
that the number of polio cases among affluent Americans was far higher than
among those living in poverty. Decades later, they finally figured out, that
newborn babies get immunity from their mother's milk, but later, if they had not
been "exposed to" and "caught" some diseases, to build up their immunity, they
were more susceptible to getting a serious disease such as polio. Those
children living in poverty were perhaps "eating a little dirt", in the back
yard, and were therefore protected, by the time they got to be six years old,
and went to school and were exposed to all the germs from other children.

I recently started taking a probiotic from Vitamin Shoppe, (i.e.
vitaminshoppe.com). It's called [Ulimate '10' Probiotic], and has ten different
types of bacteria in it. A 300 day supply was $37.00. I think it has made me
more healthy.
Hope this helps.
As always, rosacea is now curable, and the same med may cure SD, as at:

Greetings everyone. My sd is only on my scalp. Does anyone suggest
a vitamin to take to see if it has helpful effects. Someone
mentioned taking biotin, zinc and flaxseed oil. Any sugg. on a
multivitamin with all those in it? Also, what exactly are probiotics?
Thanks, Nissy
