For Everyone,
Even though there are some USA doctors prescribing (DMSO + fluconazole) for
rosacea, my heart was touched deeply by this rosacean's question, concerning
infecting them self with nail fungus, in order to get a Rx to use on their
rosacea. I was therefore inspired to offer some of my opinions about how this
cure for rosacea works.
My disclaimer, is that I could be completely incorrect, but this med still cures
rosacea, whether we know how it works or not. That's why I've never dwelled on
all the ins and outs of how and why this cure works.
I will be sending a copy of this post to Dr. G. Nase, Ph.D. Perhaps he will
break his ten month silence on this treatment/cure, to offer his opinion(s)....

Hi, jq,
My dear lord, what have we come to? After over ten months of the existence of
the rosacea-cure group board, a suffering rosacean has to contemplate infecting
their nails with nail fungus, in order to get a simple prescription for (DMSO +
fluconazole/Diflucan), (i.e. FLUCONAZOLE 1% SOLUTION, or FLUCONAZOLE 10%
SOLUTION) for their rosacea, when every single doctor in the USA has the
authority to write that Rx for rosacea!!!
Something is dreadfully wrong.
It is so very painful, for us to have to discuss this travesty of "medical
care", but I will do my best.
I believe that infecting oneself with nail fungus will not work, for many
reasons:
1) I do not believe the "spores" are available.
2) It takes "forever", for nail fungus to develop. It could take a couple of
years, to develop discernable discoloration of the nails, which is the only
symptom, in about 99% of cases.
3) Years later, you might have to cure your rosacea again, and you would not
have nail fungus at that time.
Before trying such extreme means, we might as well make (DMSO + fluconazole)
ourselves at home, as one rosacean family did, as at:
<http://groups.yahoo.com/group/rosacea-cure/message/170>
I do not know the technicalities concerning the legality of making "Home Brewed"
(DMSO + fluconazole). I would guess that it depends on where you live, in the
world, but it certainly is very easy to do.
To obtain this prescription, first ask the doctors that you know, to help you
try this treatment/cure for rosacea. If they refuse, I have found only one
means of finding a doctor that will prescribe (DMSO + fluconazole/Diflucan) for
rosacea, and that is to first contact all the COMPOUNDING PHARMACISTS in your
area, through the referral info at:
<http://www.iacprx.org/referral_service/index.html>
Then, ask the CPs to tell you what doctors have ever ordered any Rx from them.
These will be doctors that know and trust Compounding Pharmacists. Also tell
the CPs what you need, and ask them for any suggestions.
Then contact those doctors by phone or email, and try to find out if they are
willing to help you try this treatment/cure for rosacea, by writing this Rx for
(DMSO + fluconazole), known as [FLUCONAZOLE 1% SOLUTION], for rosacea. However,
doctors will most often refuse to communicate with you with a real answer,
unless you pay them about a $100.00 and see them at an appointment, and that
becomes wasted time and money, when they refuse to help you.
But I haven't found any better way to try to locate a doctor that will help
rosaceans in this matter.
An obvious problem, for doctors and rosaceans alike, concerning this cure, is
that you will definitely look worse, before you look better, and the damage that
has been done by the rosacea is not removed. Of course, after this infestation
is killed, there are many cosmetic medical procedures that can be used, to
improve the appearance of the healthy skin. Such procedures are pointless, and
even counterproductive, as long as the progressive rosacea CAUSE is still
present and growing.
As for the ROOT CAUSE of rosacea, and how (DMSO + fluconazole) worked, to get
rid of my 15+ year case of horrible, progressive rosacea, no one knows, in my
opinion.
However, let's look at the facts, with 20/20 hindsight.
(1) DMSO is a liquid that is proven beyond all doubt to potentiate, (i.e. make
stronger or more effective), drugs that are mixed with it.
(2) DMSO is proven beyond all doubt, to easily penetrate all membranes, (and
even every cell), in the body, and to somehow "carry" drugs with it into the
skin, and even into the bloodstream, when applied topically. It is known to
even create high-concentration "reservoirs" of the "carried" drugs, deep in the
skin.
(3) DMSO is proven beyond all doubt to be absolutely non-toxic and even highly
beneficial in many ways. It is available without any prescription.
(4) Fluconazole/Diflucan is known as an anti-fungal agent, and has been proven
to have no anti-bacterial effects.
(5) (DMSO + fluconazole) got rid of my rosacea, through a gradual process of
repetitive topical applications to my rosaceous skin, and inside my nose, with
"waiting/healing/regeneration" periods of time required, between applications of
the med.
So, is the CAUSE of rosacea fungal in nature? Duh !!! It does not take a rocket
scientist to "guess" that it does, if point (5) is known.
Furthermore, the so called "reaction" of the rosaceous skin to (DMSO +
fluconazole), includes a considerable time, (perhaps up to two weeks), whereby
the skin seems to be "feverish", and is pink, which strongly implies that the
immune system has kicked in for some reason, and is attacking and getting rid of
"something" in the skin. To me, this strongly implies that the (DMSO +
fluconazole) has "killed something" in the skin, which then has to be "removed"
by the immune system. As healing takes place, a characteristic "healing itch"
takes place.
An additional fact, is that I also used (DMSO + fluconazole) to get rid of a
"stealthy" infestation on the back of my left hand, which only became evident
when I accidentally discovered it while treating nail fungus in my left thumb.
I have come to realize, that this "stealth" strongly implies that a parasitical
nature is involved here.
Parasites are just about the most nasty characters that you ever (do not) want
to "catch". From huge worms that make you blind, to microscopic malaria
infestations, medical science has never really been able to "deal with" them
very easily, because they have evolved highly sophisticated means of "masking"
themselves from our immune systems, allowing them to grow and thrive in our
bodies, as unstoppable intruders.
Since rosacea symptoms do not occur, for anyone under the age of 16, these facts
have led me to believe that rosacea "may" be caused by a parasitical fungal
infestation, which grows undetected for many years in our skin before doing
enough damage to cause rosacea symptoms. Even then, my "educated guess", is
that the rosacea symptoms are caused by our immune system reacting to the
damaged human cells, not against the "masked" fungal parasite. (DMSO +
fluconazole) is then either killing or "unmasking" this fungal parasite, which
then must be further dealt with by our immune system.
This explains why substantial waiting periods are required, and cannot be
"speeded up" by more topical applications of this med. The immune system is
finally able to "attack" and remove a parasitical fungal infestation that may
have taken twenty or forty years, to establish itself. It makes sense, that
this would take time, and can take up to four weeks, or more, (each cycle),
which is also the time period that the skin takes in normal growth, to replace
itself.
This theory also explains why the "damage" done by this fungal parasite, is
still evident on the left side of my nose, in the form of a couple of veins that
show. But the skin is obviously healthy now.
Are my "guesses" about this treatment/cure the truth? Who cares, as long as
(DMSO + fluconazole) gets rid of your rosacea?
Could it be, that demodex mites are involved? I do not think so, but "anything"
is possible. From what I've read, since these mites are found on everyone, it
is not "reasonable", to believe that they are the primary CAUSE of rosacea.
In any case, as long as (DMSO + fluconazole) gets rid of your rosacea, please
believe me, you will not care how it did it.

I've been reading alot about demodex mites. From what I've read
these mites are found on almost everyone, but in higher
concentration on those with rosacea. I don't know anything about
Fluconazole other than it being used for fungus, but the way you
describe it reacting with the skin seems like it could create a
harsh enviroment for those little mites. Maybe (and this is a
totally 100% un-scientific hypothesis) this treatment is just an
effective means of exterminating these demodex mites. But then again
if it is only for fungus I suppose that it, more likely, would be
the real culprit.
In any case you seem sure that this is the cure for rosacea and I
wouldn't doubt that you may be on to somthing. What makes me angry
is that this disease is not taken seriously because it is mostly
cosmetic. But if more people took it serious I'm sure the medical
community would find a cure instead of a million "treatments", all
of which are expensive and temporary. I suppose because it is not
life threatening not enough people will complain if we never find a
cure. In the mean time I will be looking for a way to obtain DMSO-
Fluconazole.
BTW- Is it possible to infect oneself with nail fungus? Maybe I can
purchase spores from a lab and get a Fluconazole prescription to
treat it.
