Delighted to advise that the Rotarians Ophthalmoscope Initiative (ROI) has been developed to assist Clubs and Districts wishing to pull together an eligible Rotary Foundation (TRF) eye-care / treatment matching grant project.
ROI was originally established to provide a simple to use mass screening ophthalmoscope for use in remote locations. The simplicity of this low cost, pen sized, lens-free OptyseTM enables not only ophthalmologists & optometrists but also eye care workers, ophthalmic nurses, ophthalmic medical assistants and aid volunteers to obtain an immediate view of the red reflex and fundus (retina).
Its mission is to encourage all medical personnel and eye-care workers in developing countries to feel comfortable carrying and using this unique diagnostic tool, in the same way they would a thermometer.
So if you are a Club that needs funds to undertake cataract operations, eye-care equipment or supplies, or a potential international funding partner, and would like to be added to our ROI matching grants project data base, do please contact me.
For a worked matching grant example providing a 1200% return please have a look at www.roisight.org/page17cfp.html
Many thanks,
Stephen, Stevenage Grange Rotary Club, District 1260
