Dear Stu,
Thanks for your reply.
As you say, We've got to fight these authorities who
seem to have control over our lives.
I spoke to RAC today, their legal advice line, who
told me that if I intend to appeal to a magistrate, I
must have evidence from an authorised person to show
them.
To be honest, I have been shell shocked for the past
week and am only now putting my thoughts together.
I spoke to my solicitor who have just had a report
done by a specialist at Sunderland Eye Infirmary in
relation to a court case, nothing to do with RP.
The cost was £400,(£100 per hour!) I would pay £4000
if I could have my licence back tomorrow!
I rang the specialists office to see if he could help,
but his Secretary said any enquiries must come through
my solicitor-dead end for the moment.
Anyway, Stu, Thsnks again for your interest, and I
will let you know how I get on..... just seen in my
local paper that I am eligible for £25 of taxi
vouchers, better than nothing!
Kind Regards
Colin.

NO PROBLEM WITH THE REPLY, I KNOW HOW YOUR FEELING - I
WAS AN ARTICULATED TRUCK DRIVER BEFORE FINDING OUT I
HAD RP, GAVE UP A JOB I HAD DONE FOR TWENTY YEARS,
SOLD MY BELOVED MOTOR BIKE AND CAR.
MY DOCTOR TOLD ME GIVING UP DRIVING WOULD HAVE TO
BE MY CHOICE AND THAT HE WOULD'T TELL ANYONE - HE DID
ASK ME TO WATCHOUT FOR HIS FAMILY WHEN DRIVING THE
TRUCK IN GLASGOW ! I THOUGHT MY LIFE WAS OVER ( SOME
TIMES I STILL DO) BUT I HATE THE THOUGHT OF NOT
WINNING, SO WE GET UP AND HIT BACK.
DON'T LET THE BUGGERS GET YOU DOWN, IF YOU HAVE TO
STOP DRIVING - TUFF, ITS NOT YOUR PROBLEM ITS THE JOB
CENTER ACCESS TO WORK BUSINESS TEAMS, THEY WILL BE THE
ONES WHO HAVE TO GET UP OFF THEIR FAT ARSES AND GET
YOU SORTED. USE EVERY ONE, RNIB, GUIDE DOGS AND CAB.
ONCE REGISTERED BLIND YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO MAKE LOCAL
GOVERNMENT DO THEIR DUTY. IF YOU WERE A DRUGGIE THEY
WOULD BE FALLING OVER YOU TO HELP, YOU SOUND LIKE A
FIGHTER, SO LEARN WHO TO AIM AT, GET ON THE WEB AND
CHECK OUT YOUR RIGHTS AND REMEMBER ALL THOSE YEARS OF
PAYING TAX, YOU HAVE EARNED IT.
I KNOW A LOT OF REPLYS ON THE SITE ARE FROM AROUND
THE WORLD BUT THERE A FEW BRITS IN HERE SO DONT BE
SHY.
ALL THE
BEST

Many thanks for your reply, I appreciate what you say
about DVLA, they seem to have a Big Brother attitude,
even advising me not to consider legal action, you say
they are God, well, I'm an aetheist, so I'm going in
fighting!
I'll let you know how I get on, thanks again for
replying, I'm feeling very low at the moment, and its
comforting to know that there are people around who
appreciate the problem.

GET IN TOUCH WITH ACCESS TO WORK (DISABILITY SERVICE)
AT YOUR LOCAL JOB CENTRE, IF ANY ONE CAN HELP WITH
GETTING YOU A DRIVER THEY CAN, THEY HAVE GOT ME SORTED
WITH A TAXI TO & FROM WORK,PAYING FOR A DRIVER WILL BE
CHEAPER THAN YOU GOING UNDER ! AND GET YOUR SELF
REGISTERED LEGALLY BLIND THEN THE LAW WILL BE WITH
YOU, I DONT ADVISE FIGHTING DVLA - THEY ARE GOD, WHEN
IT COMES TO DRIVING. HOPE IT WORKS OUT FOR YOU
STU.

I have been diagnosed with RP and I have been told to
return my
licence to the DVLA which I have done.
I have a small company that fits out licensed premises
throughout the
UK, and have done over 25,000 miles a year for 40
years, over 50,000
miles in the last 18 months. I cannot afford a driver,
and my business
will have to close, both my business and personal life
are in ruins.
I have pefect vision when driving, and have never had
an accident of
any sort.
I feel that I am being victimised by the DVLA as they
will not allow
me to prove to them by a simulator or any other means
that I can see
perfectly well. I intend to appeal, but as this will
be to a local
magistrate, I cannot see him/her over-ruling the DVLA.
This is totally frustrating, as I do not have any
problems seeing in
the dark, yet I have been told that I do,why does
no-one believe me?
Does anyone know of anyone else who has appealed, or
can offer any
advice, please?
