Re: [resveratrol-users] Pterostilbene and pTerinol

One problem is that the tree it's extracted from, malabar kino, is endangered.  It makes it hard to get raw material.  Other sources have too little to be worth extracting, and there is no market driven motivation to go the chemical route.

Subject: [resveratrol-users] Pterostilbene and pTerinol

I take about 250 mg of resveratrol every day (from Life Extension). I also take, when I can find and afford it, pterostilbene, which is the methylated form of resveratrol (and therefore not off-topic), which has important health benefits of its own.

Swansons used to sell it at a reasonable price and then suddenly discontinued it. I have found another site, but they charge a dollar a pill for a bottle of 60. This product also contains resveratrol.

The extract is called "pTerinol". It comes from the malabar kino tree.
I have ordered some from an ayurvedic website, but it's the raw herb. They use it for diabetes, which I do not have.

I'm a big believer in both resveratrol and pterostilbene. Blueberries, by the way, are the most common source of the latter in our diets, but they only contain a trace amount.

Remember, pterostilbene is the methylated form of resveratrol. They go together and mentioning it here should not be considered off-topic.

Does anyone know of a good source of pterostilbene capsules at a reasonable price?
