Re: [repetitivestrain] Does This Sound Like Carpal Tunnel?

Definitely get another opinion...

The tingling in your fingers is caused by the swollen nerves. As is the burning and pain.
If the exercises hurt, don't do them..and tell the doctor that doing them hurts so they can better identify what's going on.

Good luck,

Subject: [repetitivestrain] Does This Sound Like Carpal Tunnel?

I was experiencing burning/tingling pains in both arms, shoulders,
chest, back of neck for quite a while. Don't have any pain in hands but
occasional slight numbness in fingers. I also get a very hot sweaty
feeling in my upper body when I'm sleeping but don't feel wet .. no
drenching sweat.

Finally went to doctor yesterday and he tested me for carpal tunnel
(Tinel's test) and my left hand tested positive. He also said he
thought I had a pinched nerve in my neck since I spend many hours a day
on computer and I do have neck pain. He gave me some exercises to do
for hands/neck and told me to wear a splint at night. I went home and
did the exercises and my burning pains were worse then ever. I felt
like I was on fire! My hubby thinks it's normal to have some pain after
starting an exercise routine especially since I don't exercise on a
regular basis.

I'm beginning to doubt the doctor's diagnosis.

Anyone else have similar symptoms?

I believe your doctor is accurate. You are intensely tight in your neck and shoulders and nerves that start there are being pinched. I'd like to hear what...
