I couldn't agree with you more! I've been working with people who
have repetitive strain injuries for the past 17 years, and have
specialized in the self-treatment of the muscles that impact the
median/ulnar nerves for the past 8 years.
You are absolutely right, it's the muscles entrapping the nerves
which then send pain/numbness messages to the hand/wrist area. The
median nerve actually originates in the neck at cervical 4-6
vertebrae. If you go to www.aboutcts.com you'll see the pathway of
the median nerve. Go to the section about muscles and CTS. When the
scalenes are in spasm they press on the bundle of nerves called
the "brachial plexus" and will cause pain and burning between the
shoulder blades.
