Out of curiousity is there any evidence for a link between RSI and birth
control pills?

Hi Katie,
I'm glad you went to your physician first, it's important to be sure
that you aren't having some type of allergic reaction, or other medical
condition caused by the pill. Did your doctor say that one of the side-
effects of the pill is constriction of the nerves, or having any affect
on muscles?
If that isn't the case, then let's look at muscles. I have a website:
www.aboutcts.com that discusses all of the muscles that have an impact
on the median nerve (the nerve that goes to the thumb and first two
fingers) and the ulnar nerve (which goes to the ring and pinky
fingers). I suggest that you take a look at it, especially the section
about the muscles that cause CTS, so you'll have a good idea about why
muscles can cause tingling and numbness. While the website focuses on
CTS, this is a situation that is not just in your hand, but in your
entire body.
It's possible that the pill triggered the muscles to contract, and that
contraction is now causing the muscles to impinge on the nerves. It
certainly won't hurt you to flush the toxins out of the muscles to see
if it helps. The only way to do this is through massage, either done
by a professional massage therapist, or done by you yourself.
I suggest you (or your massage therapist) massage each of the muscles
that are shown on my website: scalenes, pectoralis minor, all arm
muscles, and even the muscles of your hand and thumb.
After you do that, if you have any questions, please feel free to post
a message and we'll see what we can do.
Wishing you well,
Julie
