Sometimes car accidents can cause a brachial plexus injury which
mimics some of the symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome so it's helpful
to have the doctor screen for that as well (often doesn't show up on
MRI or electrodiagnostics)
Vascular surgeons are the main specially that gets training in
brachial plexus injuries. Your brachial plexus is a set of nerves that
run between your collarbone and first rib.
The book "It's not carpal tunnel syndrome" goes over the tests they
should do.
It's probably not that likely a cause of your symptoms but since I've
run into people who have that type of injury failed to be correctly
diagnosed for months(or years) I thought it worth mentioning.
My wrist pain was almost completely resolved by treating the brachial
plexus. (my injury came from computer mouse usage)
