shoulder bald/funny bone

Hi Marcie,

You are demonstrating the symptoms of pressure on the ulnar nerve, and also spasms in a muscle called “infraspinatus” which is right on your shoulder blade.  When a muscle spasm presses into a nerve you get a tingly, numb type of feeling.  You also lose strength because the muscle is now too short to do the work it is intended to accomplish.

I teach people how to self-treat muscle spasms that cause pain and numbness. Try this self-treatment technique that has worked for hundreds of athletes (mostly swimmers) who have the same problem:

Lie on your back on the floor and place a tennis ball so your shoulder blade is resting onto it.  Move your body around until you hit a point that is painful (you’ll know immediately when you’re on the right spot) and then stay there for 60 seconds.  Then move a tiny bit more to place the ball on a spot that will be close to the first one.  You are on the infraspinatus muscle.  It has been proven in scientific clinical research that this point will refer numbness to the areas you mentioned.  You should get relief after you release this spasm.

You can learn a lot about muscles and pain by going to the two websites beneath my signature. Feel free to ask more questions, either here or at our forum on either of the websites.

Wishing you well,

     Julie

Lately, I've been having a problem with the funny "bone" in one of my elbows. It sometimes feel like something is pressing on it all the time. Sometimes, the feeling goes all the way to my shoulder blade. Does anyone else experience this?

Marcie
