Hi Jen,
I think I may be able to help a bit. (first thing is to stop saying "killing", your body reacts to that word) :-)
I agree, that EMG is horrible!!! When they did an x-ray, are your bones set properly? Did they heal properly? Many times I've seen people who were told they have arthritis (a distinct possibility because of your accident) get a great deal of pain relief by working the muscles that insert into the point of pain.
When a muscle is pulling on it's insertion, it sets up tension and that is why the joint moves. When the tension isn't released by the movement of the joint (for example, when you are holding your hand out straight while the muscle is trying to make your wrist bend) you will feel pain at the insertion point of the muscle. However, rubbing the insertion point is fruitless, you need to rub the muscle that is inserting there.
I don't want us to take up everyone's time for me to work directly with you. If you like, come to the forum on my website: www.aboutwristpain.com, or email me directly, and let me know EXACTLY where you are feeling the pain. Let's try to find which muscle is putting the tension on your wrists. I can also teach your husband how to help you if he is willing to learn.
Working muscles doesn't get rid of arthritis. However, the pain of arthritis causes the muscles to spasm, and that only increases the pain. If you release the tight muscle, the pain will lessen. Sometimes it goes down enough to be quite tolerable. We'll pray for that to happen to you.
Wishing you well,
Julie

-----Original Message-----Ok, here goes :) I'm 33, I live in Michigan. I fractured both wrists when I was 10, both bones in right wrist, one bone in left. Had arthritis 45 days after I fractured them. Now that I'm in my early 30's, I'm having a heck of a time, the weather is KILLING my hands most particularly the right one. My husband and I are both unemployed and looking and right now on only my unemployment so there is no extra money to purchase the Herbalife Joint Support I usually take for my hands. I was using the MS Cee Muscle/Sports Rub, I can't find a distributor for it now and the jar's nearly gone ((( I LOVE to read but holding the book is killing my hand. I did get the EMG nerve testing done years ago and at that time they "claimed" that I had a MILD case of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome although they didn't COMPLETE the test because I was crying my eyes out because it hurt like *ell and the doc gave me tranquilizers to take prior to the test but it's GONNA hurt when someone's sticking a tiny needle into your muscles, if you get my drift :)

Subject: [repetitivestrain] MY introduction
I've tried heating pads, ice packs and that putty they use to strengthen the muscles in your hand, doesn't do much good. I know once the weather clears up around here it won't be as bad but until then it's really hard to just sit around and watch TV all day we don't have cable because we cannot afford it..big sigh..
Any suggestions???????
