Hi
I am 53 and recently diagonosed with carpal tunnel in my right hand
(nerve conduction test). My primary care doc was ready to recommend
surgery, but I want to try massage, acupuncture, ot first. I have
worked for the Postal Service for 33 years and it's endemic to the
job. Luckily, we seem to be getting early outs, so I should be out
by 9/30/03.
My immediate concern is my workouts. The primary care physician
didn't seem to think they needed to be limited, but the weight
machines make my arm really hurt-about 1/2 hr after I'm done. I also
have some pain in my right bicep (a bit also in the left, but not so
much). I have lightened the weights, decreased reps and tried just
doing them twice a week. However, I think I should stop them
completely and go to see a sports medecine doctor. My cts is fairly
mild (other than after the workouts) at the moment and I'm reluctant
to try surgery if I can get the other methods to work first.
Any suggestions or links are welcome.
