> My partner has tendonitis from piano, so we're already crippled. Oh my
god, I'm crippled. Please someone tell me it gets better.<
It does get better, but, not until it gets worse.
I had severe tendonitis, median nerve entrapment, ulnar nerve entrapment,
and radial nerve entrapment. I was unable to do ANYTHING.
Several things made me worse: anti-inflamatories which numbed the pain -
allowing me to foolishly continue to work - making things worse; splints
- they help allow scar tissue to form through immobilization, thus,
freezing tendons which need to be stretchy and flexible; improper PT.
What did heal me - TOTALLY, was two years of solid rest. I did nothing
but watch TV. Sure, that is a luxury nobody can afford, but, I'm healed.
What about you?
The second thing which prevented me from relapse was meeting with a
movement specialist who retrained me how to ergonomically (correctly) tie
my shoes, open a door, drive my car, lift a fork, push a door bell, sweep
my floor, etc.
The third thing, as I mentioned earlier was to discontinue traditional
treatment. The body can heal itself in time. You just have to give it
time and DISCONTINUE injuring it by continuing the activity that injured
it. PERIOD! Stop. You can go back when you are fully healed.
Fourth, deep tissue massage. I don't know if it helped, but it is what I
was doing.
Today, because of those "movement lessons," my motions and movements are
effortless and efficient. I feel like I am on a plateau above everyone
else.
Either you will heal or you won't. I decided to heal and did what it
took: SACRIFICE.
Tendonitis and CTS are the best things that ever happened to me.
