To the teenager going for surgery: Go out of your way not to have it!
If you've ever read an author named Dr. Nolan, he wrote 'A Surgeon's
World,' he says that dr.'s themselves push surgery while they
themselves won't have it done b/c they know it's a money game. It
doens't matter if the dr. says he'd treat his children with surgery --
trust me, they lie! I know what I'm talking about! :-)

Make sure you have the nerve tests...they're expensive, but worth it.
And make sure you know what the aftercare will be. These dr.'s, I
tell you....

As for chiropractors, I went to 3 and was pleased, but they didn't
really cure me. They cracked my back and my wrists and used
ultrasound and herbs, but, folks, go to an orthopedic specialist or a
physical therapist. Looking back, I lost a lot of time going to
chiropractors, and although I felt better with the ultrasound, I never
could regain the strenght in my fingers until I quit my job (where the
CTS came from!). I don't think chiropractors are quacks, as do almost
all dr.'s, and they're actually much more pleasant and less arrogant
than most doctors. But, find someone who specializes in non-surgery
treatments. Really.
